Likely an intranasal abscess, probably MRSA. Do not try to manipulate it further, you need to go to an ER to see if it needs to be incised and drained. You also need antibiotics.

Further attempts to squeeze/pop it yourself can lead to cavernous sinus thrombosis.

How do you have 1% lidocaine to inject around the area?

This dude is an idiot. The person who gave him the lidocaine is an idiot.

This thread is full of so much stupid.

Go to the doc let them inject some serious meds in there and the doc can lance and get to it without concern for pain at that time. Pay the $ and git-r-done!

Put your smallest wood bit in your Dewalt. (Screw gun, Impact would be stupid.) Tap a quick hole in it, then squeeze into some dirty underwear that need to be washed anyway.

If it truly is an ingrown hair, go with the Nair.

Good luck.

You 100% have nasal vestibulitis with cellulitis. (I take care of noses for a living).

Almost certainly MRSA.

Stop messing with it unless you see an obvious head that you can pop and let it drain.

While bad things can result from these (cavernous sinus thrombosis, etc), they are 1/10000000 kind of rare.

You need to bet some mupirocin ointment (bactroban is trade name) and some bactrim or clindamycin antibiotic pills. May need a drainage by an Ent if abscess has formed.

So, in short, go see a doctor.

Scruffy man, I really like you. You're funny as hell and very very smart. You're going to have a great phsycian career.

But kiss my booty. I'm not a fool. I'm a Registered respiratory therapist so I have access to the same medications that you do. A lot of Docs and RN's take waste narcotics home with them... I "somehow" came into possession of some lidocaine. Quick call the DEA!

Scruffy I hope you have a good day dude. I genuinely mean that.

But thanks for all the advice guys. I'm gonna quit messing with it and had to a doctor asap.

You are injecting lidocaine blindly into your nose?

What could go wrong

This just makes it worse. You are medically trained and you are still doing this stuff.

Look, your at home interventions are clearly not working. You have even gone so far as to injecting lidocaine INTO YOUR NARE to temporarily alleviate the pain.

Sorry for the rude comments, but these posts get under my skin.

Go to the doctor. You likely have an infection inside your nose, which is likely staph.

You need actual medical management, not at home care.

Those of us in the medical field think we know everything. We pull the same moronic mistakes because we always believe that we can heal ourselves. Just like lawyers should never represent themselves in court, we should not attempt to treat ourselves.

Go to the doctor.

So you come on to the ot asking for advice, are told countless times to goto the doctor then chose to get into a pissing contest and try and say you're in the medical field so it's all good.

Did you want someone to tell you about their family remedy of sticking ginger root soaked in sweet tea up their nose for 4 hours to make it magically go away?

This would easier to take seriously if we really knew it was Scruffy saying it.
