This makes zero sense to me.

Who thinks it is a good idea to blindly inject lidocaine into their nostril?

If it's MRSA, which sounds like it is, go to a Dr. ASAP. I'm not in your area and can't see you.

See a Dr. NOW. The infection is too close to your brain.

So you are openly admitting to illegally possessing narcotics when you are a registered respiratory therapist. "Waste narcotics" is a simple way for you to justify in your mind it being ok to take them when I know good and well you are not supposed to, or are allowed to, do so. And with whatever medical training you are required to go through to become "registered" in your field, the concept of pain, swelling, and a sore that not only won't go away but is getting so bad you have to inject your own nose with a numbing agent to make it through the day escaping you leads me to believe you might want to rethink your choice of a career..

Serious business. The wife had a similar issue, and it was staph. She waited so long, it was spreding and causing her eyes to swell. Go to the Dr.

I'm not a fool.

I don't suggest you are, but if you don't have a differential that includes abscess with moderate likelihood of surrounding cellulitis and being in the "danger zone" for causing cavernous sinus thrombosis, then you need to leave your house and seek medical help medical help soon and not later. Urgent care is very appropriate if your PCP doesn't see patients on Saturdays.
You are also frequently (though I'll point out that the time frame is consistent with the duration of action for such a vascular area) injecting an area that you can't possibly clean thoroughly that is frequently colonized with bacteria that can cause more cellulitis/abscess when given an entry way like a hypodermic needle.

A lot of Docs and RN's take waste narcotics home with them... I "somehow" came into possession of some lidocaine. Quick call the DEA!

A lot of people drive home drunk from the bar, a lot of people in Chicago shoot each other, and a lot of senators take donations they shouldn't. Don't excuse bad and dangerous behavior because others do it. Hold yourself to a high standard.

I wouldn't do it, but if I did, I certainly wouldn't do it more than once. Lidocaine is very far from benign, and it's unfortunate that people who have easy access to it don't realize that.

Scruffy before I left my peds job I cared for a child that the parent also happened to be a respiratory therapist.

Yet the child was completely UNVACCINATED!! Wtf??! I mean, the respiratory therapist is likely exposed to all kinds of nasty stuff like pertussis, etc on a regular basis. The RT has likely seen people die from basic respiratory stuff like the flu. The child then being at a higher risk of getting sick from the parent exposing them to that. Yet this "medical professional" wouldn't vaccinate their child.

Another way I knew this RT parent was an idiot. Kid was coughing from pneumonia...RT parent made me page the resident at 2 am to get albuterol treatments ordered for the cough
