3-4-5 is practical geometry for people who've never heard of Pythagoras and/or his Theorem.

math

there's the origin of the OCD, nothing wrong with striving for accuracy but if you get into woodworking a bit you'll find almost everything can be tweaked, adjusted as you're putting it together, accurate measuring and a miter saw also helps keep everything in order, good luck

There is way too much fricking going on there

I think that was the point. OP is looking for more work than pulling out a square, so that's what he got

Everything is always perfect on the drawing board!

I built a 16' x 24' shed/workshop with my BIL and his two sons (5 & 7). We (me and my BIL, not necessarily the kids) know what we're doing. We were double checking base square (and level), when one one of the boys wanted to know what we were doing and why was it taking so long...

I gave a (semi-)brief lecture on the Pythagorean Theorem. Both kids are smart and already knew the basics of multiplication, so I figured I could explain it to them. After a few moments of obvious incomprehension, my BIL offered up the "3-4-5" rule. The kids got right on to it.

seriously i know i'm dumb..but you just put this in the corner inside your frame and if its not flush..what? you just squeeze the corner?

i have a square but i use it mainly for cutting straight edges on wood.

Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and ask for a Black & Decker Square Checker. They are only about $25.00 and require a couple AA batteries for the laser (included as I recall).

You're welcome in advance.

Framing square, use it on the outside. It will squar the two boards.

Speed square is for laying out usually. Will still work.

Yes, just move the frame until both
sides are touching the framing square.

Plastic or aluminum speed squares can be had for about $2.99 at Harbor Freight. I buy 'em 3 or 4 at a time and dont care if I lose them (or give them away to my friends who've never seen one before).

You may have to pry open or draw in the wood to make it 90 deg and flush with the square...you are confusing me

can check with a level...just make sure the bubble is between the lines

I like to watch the Messcans frame houses near where I live. They don't use tapes or squares, but if you go and check their work with a square it's right on.

Jose and Hose-B have to get finished and on to the next job...
Geometry? We don't need no stinking GEOMETRY!!!

I'm a measure twice, cut once kind of guy and I'm a firm believer in plumb, square and level. I may be slow, but I'm good!
