o suggest totally different and here is why. You are still relatively young and have never had a fun car. You are about to get married and have kids so the fun car time period is diminishing. If you choose to get one, do so knowing that you will have to trade it once babies begin arriving.
I suggest an old or newer age muscle car. The older ones are pretty archaic but will hold their value when you sell it in a few years. If you go newer, your driving experience will probably be better than with old but you will lose a lot of money when you sell it.
I had the same Explorer years ago, only in an XLT with the 5.0. It was a good vehicle but was not a fun vehicle. It seemed to have about half the HP of my '66 289.
I guess my point is do fun now because it may not be available later.

Ford Edge. My wife has one and I don't tell her this but I really enjoy driving her car. It handles great and has great power. She's got the Unlimited, it's fully loaded with the glass top.

Seems like a nice enough vehicle, I really don't like the front grill that Lexus has going on now, though.

I don't love the newer grills either, but they still make the most reliable, nice vehicles imo.

I've owned two 4Runners and love them, just bought my second one a week ago from Toyota of Dallas. Go talk to Matt Montoya over at Toyota of Dallas he will work his arse off for you, seriously, I bought the dude lunch he treated me so well. Told him I was driving over to Dallas from Shreveport to buy from him & he told me that even if we didn't work out a deal he would fill my tank up for the ride home and give me a $25 gift card for food on the way home. That being said the future wife has a Subaru Outback that's pretty awesome as well.

Before you buy, test drive a new Subaru Outback Ltd in the 3.6.
You'll be surprised at the fit, design and safety, not to mention the pure value of the purchase vs other options.
