no regrets at all.
I've been with the same company for 15 years. I've slowly worked my way into mid-level management. The company has been good to me, but I've given a lot of blood, sweat and tears. I've gotten to live some different places by choice and am now settled in a good city with family close, where I plan to stay. I've gotten to travel a lot and see some cool corners of the US on the company dime.

Yes/No, I like the stability of having been in one place for nearly 12 years, but occasionally my mind wanders to what else may be out there. My situation is a bit different that most though as work with/for family, so at this point I'm pretty much stuck til death. Every so often I wonder where I'd be had I actually finished school and stuck to my own path. It is what it is.

Haven’t you had a lot of job related issues lately? I remember you posting about getting a promotion, then they pulled it from you or something. Sounds really “stable”

Yes and no. I have a great job. Pays well and the benefits are way above average. I'm currently in the running for a nice promotion. Love my wife and 2 kids. None of this would have been possible had I left.

On the other hand, sometimes I wish I had moved away from Arkansas to a much nicer state. I don't hate Arkansas, but let's face it. The South and Southeast states have the shittiest weather. Pay in these states are lower and opportunities are more scarce. There's a reason the cost of living is lower here. So is the quality of life.

For the most part, though, ignorance is bliss and I don't spend any time dwelling on that.

If you're good enough you could get equity. That's the only way I'd leave.

And what makes you think a vegan food delivery app would be successful?

Best of luck to you!

I left a stable job with great benefits after 6 years for a startup and have never looked back. It has changed my life.

You have to trust your assessment of the situations and your subsequent decision. And remember that you have a role in steering the new company to success!

I did 2 years at a major firm and jumped to a relatively new, no name company that specialized in the type of work I came to enjoy the most at my first job.

Been here 8 years with no plans to leave. I am not necessarily against moving around if it makes sense, I just sort of fell into a job and company that is probably top 5 in the industry as far as benefits, comp, and employee morale. No regrets at all leaving the old place and staying at the new.

I’m sorry but do businesses only originate in the Bay Area?

I only had one job, 42 years, after getting out of college. No regrets. There's always the question of should I have done something else with my vocational life but you never really know the answer until late in life.
