I’m no longer a Fat Mama’s fan but Frankie’s on Main, in an old bank building is very good.

But I’d not hesitate to go to the quarter and enjoy during the middle of the day.

Find a close parking garage and just hope for the best. If you're getting a rental and driving anywhere in NOLA, get the extra insurance.

Why the Quarter?

Gianna, Desi Vega's or Peche are much better options than anything in the Quarter

Wrong city.

But in that vein, Toup's or Cochon would work for that, or Cochon Butcher.

How long and are you far from where you will be staying AND the Quarter? If you're within short distance, I still think rideshare/taxi would be way cheaper and less of a hassle.

The potholes suck. Parking sucks. The drivers suck.

Hwy 51 (the low road) is still open and allegedly traffic isn't TOO bad. You'll have to take it from Ruddock to the Ponchatoula exit. I don't think the interstate will be open by Friday, but I guess that depends on how the inspections go.

ETA: You might consider the new(ish) location of Middendorfs in Slidell or taking the Causeway (free northbound!) to Morton's Seafood in Madisonville.

If it hasn’t changed it’s very good. The one in the Hilton in CBD did, and their lunch menu isn’t good now. If I were going to the FQ, I’d choose Mr Bs or Bourbon House, if open. Many places have odd daytime hours post-Covid.

Emeril's is reopening under a brand new concept and Emeril's son is the executive chef....not sure if they will be open for lunch though

An outstanding lunch option not too far from the airport (with a much lower risk of getting jacked than the FQ) is The Galley on Metairie Rd in Metairie between Bonnabel and Causeway. Excellent taste of New Orleans options, always fresh in season boiled seafood ready to order, great po-boys and traditional favorites on the menu along with fresh catch specials every day. And if any beer is to be consumed their Abita Amber comes out in a frozen goblet with a nice little layer of ice floating on top. C'est si bon!

Add in that it's more expensive than most of the FQ restaurants.

I do agree that it is pretty good though.

The prices at the Galley are WILD. Even for Metairie Road.
