Maybe it's the parents. Maybe he was molested. I don't know. Scary to think that you can just be born that way.

I didn't put any blame on him being a kid. It's pretty scary how terrible your reading comprehension is.

Your statement is misleading. There was no charge of "continuing" molestation, though once is enough if it did happen.

quote:

The charge, brought forth by the ex-wife of Heimlich's brother and mother of his niece, was that Luke inappropriately touched the girl in a private area of her body at his family's home in Puyallup, Washington, at least twice when he was age 13 to 15 and she 4 to 6, from 2010-12. Heimlich pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to two years probation, with the possibility of it being sealed from his record at the end of a five-year period.

Here's the link for that quote.

The article above is rather long and has probably been posted before maybe even in this thread. I haven't read every post.

There's a lot of information in this article. Some of it makes me wonder if he wasn't indeed innocent. A good bit of it makes me wonder. The charges were brought by the ex wife of his brother. His brother had custody of both the children. The ex had visitation and some other holidays, apparently. Luke's mother kept the girl at the family home when the father was a work. The article indicates Luke was involved in a lot of other things and wasn't at home much when the child was there and his mother claims she was always around and saw nothing. The article also states that one of the reasons they took the plea was a fear that the brother might lose custody of the girl. Hmmm.... fabricated story to get custody? Another reason was to avoid putting the girl through a trial. Anyway, read the article all the way through. While he pled and was convicted, I'm leaning toward he and his family having poor representation, lack of knowledge of all the options available and generally being hoodwinked into a plea out of fear, protection of the girl, not taking the risk of losing at trial and much more. I have to wonder if the child was coerced into saying whatever it is she said. Twice in two years and no other allegations from anyone anywhere, no history of any problems...there's just nothing else to support the allegation. I wish there was more out there on how the child came to make the allegations....

Her testimony was that he did it when she was four and again when she was six. Sounds like he continued to molest her to me.

Her testimony was that he touched her "outside and inside". Any doctor would be able to tell you whether she was penetrated. I imagine it was part of the investigation.

This doesn't make sense. No one would pressure their child/sibling to voluntarily become a sex offender just so they could keep custody of a child in a custody dispute. You gain nothing from that.

You said

He was a kid. His brain still isn't fully developed 8 years later.

What’s scary is how you’re excusing his actions because you think he’s a kid.

That's what the parents said in the article-they were afraid the son might lose custody and they wouldn't get to see the granddaughter. I thought that was odd because it put the granddaughter ahead of their own son in a way, although the decision, according to them was basically choosing between one son keeping his daughter and another son pleading guilty to an awful crime he denied. I'd like to know why the other son got custody over the mother. Once he plead guilty, I wonder if the mom tried to get custody thereafter. The entire article has some strange information in it and is lacking in some areas.

Then why are you arguing if a 15 year old is a kid or not? What the frick does it matter, if it doesn’t matter?

Please don’t slander my Lord and savior. You’ve done enough by excusing a pedophile’s actions.

Because people are legitimately arguing 15 isn't a kid. That's dumb. If someone wants to argue the fact that he was a kid doesn't matter, fine. I even tend to agree with that. But to argue he wasn't a kid is just plain wrong. Hence my post.

How does the brother pleading guilty to child molestation help the brother in a custody battle? I'll tell you. It doesn't.

Teams didn't draft this guy because of how he would fit in the locker room. Most of his teammates have children. I would imagine that teams don't want that distraction in their locker room. If he was drunk behind the wheel and killed someone in high school he would have been a top 5 pick.

Teenagers do a lot of dumb shite and should deserve a second chance.. Sometimes a third change, however; this is different. At 15 years old you know that sexually molesting a 6 year old is wrong.. People don't do it just to do it, it's a sickness. I wouldn't invest millions of dollars in him because, without any type of help, there is a chance of him doing something like that again..
