It is just frustrating seeing tiktok rumors spread like wildfire.

Your frustration is noted, but I haven't watched the first TikTok having anything to do with this fire. My information, every single bit of what I have said in this thread, comes directly from local and state officials reported by traditional media sources.

You realize that "sent home" includes day cares, summer school, summer camps, etc?

I'm not sure why you are so dug in on this in the face of other evidence?

Because I saw the rumor weeks ago and can't believe it is still gaining traction. It specifically stated the students sent home on busses were missing.

If the first day of school for students was the next day there's no way all the busses would be running

You seem hung up on this part for whatever reason. I have my suspicions as to why, but there is no point in delving into that.

You're arguing against verifiable reports and first hand knowledge. Carry on, if you must.

Idk about her being at fault, this is the first I’ve read of that. But there is too much happening to be a coincidence and you know they want total control and are going all out. I don’t put anything that’s happening these days past them.

It's not so much Oprah as its the fact that the wealthy land owners were able to wrangle better fire mitigation protection than everyone else. She also was likely paying to keep her property clear of dead brush and foliage that fricked a lot of the areas that got torched. Then there was also just dumb luck b/c of the way the winds blew.

A lot of people are not going to want to hear it but many of those areas and homes had a ton of vegetation surrounding them that was probably in a bad way due to drought. Damn near every house I saw last time I was in the actual town of Lahaina had stuff growing right up to the houses and businesses. It was really pretty to be set up like that but in the end it probably made things far worse for everyone once the fires started raging. The city being old as hell and very compact didn't help things either.

For example, this house here was likely spared b/c the winds blew in just the right way and there wasn't really much immediately surrounding it that could burn.

These houses here probably made it b/c the winds blew the right way at just the right time to spare them not unlike how a tornado can rip apart 5 houses in a row and then somehow skip over a couple that you would assume were directly in its path.

Now look at how much open area is around Oprah's home (which is pretty far from Lahaina). She has a lot of protection simply due to the way she had the land cleared out.

Exactly. Its not so much a conspiracy as common sense that her house didnt burn where it was located.

Now as to what started the fires, maybe it was a laser beam from space, who knows, I just don't think Oprah controls it.

I understand why they are angry and grabbing at anything that can help them make sense of it all. I get being pissed at billionaires buying up all the land in their state pricing locals out. I really do. But to think that she wanted those fires to happen so she could buy land on the cheap is insane b/c she has so much money that she could have bought the entire city of Lahaina and still comfortably had over $2 billion in net worth if she wanted.

If they want to be mad at her for something it should be the fact that her, Jeff Bezos, Peter Thiel, Zuckerberg and a few other billionaire home owners in Hawaii could snap their fingers and have every single home and business rebuilt and not even notice the minuscule dent in their bank accounts but seem to be just fine w/a few small (for them) donations and in Oprah's case, trying to bring cameras into a shelter to... I guess get footage of her handing out water? Not sure what the frick she was thinking doing that shite.

How does you having traveled to Maui relate to your knowledge of Oprah's real estate holdings?

Do you believe there weren't children at home by themselves? I mean I can send you the tiktok links to many children who documented their experiences in real time to the point of having to jump in the water to avoid being burned alive.

Families being sent back to their homes from check point with the fire moving towards them at 60mph.

People being told there was nothing to worry about and no alarm being raised to tell them to evacuate.

Its not a conspiracy theory, its all documented in real time first hand video.

There are a lot of people dead because a lot of bad decisions were made by people in positions of authority and the way its being handled even to this very moment is the reason the situation has given rise to so many theories as to who or why it happened.

If you want to avoid people not believing a story, tell one using facts, evidence and transparency while acknowledging mistakes as needed.

If you want people to believe a conspiracy tell a story without transparency, with contradictory reports and don't acknowledge mistakes or provide evidence to support your claims.

Exactly. They didn't need this fire to buy up Lahaina. What happens sucks. The emergency systems not going off is terrible, but I doubt it was someone purposely going "im not gonna press the alert button so that we get the Maximum amount of people dead so they can't fight Oprah buying up their property"

Couldve been due to power being out and backup generator not kicking in/failing/burning up as well

Everyone says how inept governments are and they never can never do anything right. Then when a disaster strikes that creates limited communication, chaos, and destruction the inadequacies are amplified. Everyone is shocked that in the chaos there are mistakes, miscommunications etc. and its not ineptness its a conspiracy.

I've seen people abandon threads after getting embarrassed but I've never seen anyone just abandon responding to a poster and then continue posting in the thread after getting embarrassed.....and you've done it twice, so far.

Bravo.

The people who push the sirens not going off are the same people who are advocating for a "multi-tiered warning system" to be put in place in Hawaii.

News Flash: Hawaii has (and had during the fire) a multi-tiered warning system.

1. NOAA/NWS warned for days critical fire weather was coming.
2. The NWS and local officials used social media before and during the fire to warn people and keep them informed.
3. Local news affiliates broadcast the warnings and gave information on television.
4. Local radio stations broadcast the warnings and gave information over the airwaves.
5. NOAA Weather Radio broadcast the warning, gave current information over the airwaves.
6. Emergency push notifications were sent via traditional mobile/cell phone methods throughout.
7. Hawaii invested a considerable amount of money into a custom mobile/cell phone public address and warning system that was available for free to everyone in the state that operated as designed before and during the fire.
8. The siren warning system they had didn't activate for whatever reason.

The point of a multi-tiered warning system is to have fail safes in place in case one warning method didn't work and to provide the general public multiple ways to receive warnings and information. This is by design and definition a multi-tiered warning system.

If people really want a conspiracy regarding the Maui fire to latch onto, go read up on the FEMA response and how money (said to be ~$6 billion) needed for relief is tied directly to more/new funding for the Ukraine war (which is $24.1 billion).

That's right, Ameican citizens who are at the lowest point of their lives are being held hostage because our dear leaders want four times the amount of funding for a fricking foreign country before they will help Americans who have been left with nothing. Then, read our President's comments on that clusterfrick where he said if the funding fails he will point directly at Republicans for that failure.

That shite is reprehensible no matter how anyone tries to spin it.

I'm not disputing where her property is. I'm asking what visiting the island once has to do with it. Just because I've been to Madrid doesn't mean I know where the King of Spain lives.
