Who is New Orleans jail escapee Derrick Groves? How convicted killer is tied to Len Davis.

quote:

How is Derrick Groves connected to Len Davis?
Davis, a notoriously corrupt patrol officer who led a drug ring for years, was convicted in 1996 for ordering the murder of Kim Groves, Derrick Groves' grandmother.

In 1994, Kim Groves, a Lower 9th Ward resident, was shot to death outside of her home by hitman Paul Hardy after she filed a police brutality report against Davis. Davis was given the death penalty for his involvement in the killing, though his sentence was commuted to life by former President Joe Biden in December 2024.

Derrick Groves was born nearly three years after his grandmother's notorious death.

People think New Orleans is bad now.. The NOPD was probably the biggest gang in New Orleans. I didn't know one of the escapees was tied to this. Damn. You know how in movies, they have the dumb inmates who all follows the one that just uses them? Like in.... Con Air.

He was probably the Cyrus the Virus of this situation.

So he’s not directly tied to anything involving the cop

Yet the city, as a whole, was much safer.

Joe Biden was hypocritical – and “blindsided” the victim’s daughter – when in December he commuted the death sentence given to a corrupt former police officer after he orchestrated the murder of a woman who filed a brutality complaint against him, according to the retired assistant US attorney whose job it was to prosecute the case.

Biden's handlers did this 2 days before Christmas last year

I mean, I guess you could make the case because of the projects, that the violence was contained but overall the violence was much much higher in the 80s and 90s.

Why are they on death row for 20+ years. That's ridiculous and a drain on taxpayer funds keeping those POS breathing.

All true, and residents knew what the wrong areas were.

Katrina shuffled the map and reset everything.

What about when they shut down the projects? Wasn't that where most of the crime was happening?

Not post-Katrina. Mass relocations.

Much of the post-Katrina crime originated from MS-13 moving into NOLA, and resulting turf disputes.
