The one in Port Barre is excellent.

There is no Mama's Fried Chicken in Port Barre. There is an establishment called "Chicken King". Same brand as the one on Prudhomme Lane in Opelousas.

You are correct. I was confusing the two. I meant Chicken Kang.

Chicken King is spectacular.

Working there every day (before COVID-19) the best places to eat in no particular order as of 2020 were: Cane's, Crawfish House (Cajun girl Poboy is to die for), Solieau's Diner Club, Pizza Shack, Pearl's Diner, Kelly's Diner, Billy's (pepperjack balls ftw), Ray's, Chicken King, Mama's Fried Chicken, The Varsity, Creswell (great Chinese buffet) Joe's subs

I don't believe there was Westminster in opelousas in the 80's .

Most certainly was. I went there and was born in 79. Pre-K and kindergarten were at the church on the corner of cherry and main

Born there. Lived on Lombard St. Moved to Baton Rouge when I was about five. Have family still there. I remember as a kid walking to Lupo's drug store down the street to get a Chocolate Soldier.

Played American legion baseball there before I joined the military early 1990's. Port Barre alum and had some OC friends that I played ball with. Mr.Gatti's pizza buffet for the win back in the day.

My Dad is from there. Grew up on a rice farm on that highway takes you to Churchpoint. Graduated from OC in late 70's. Lots of family members still near there, my mom is from a major European city so Opelousas was a no go for her. He said the city was pretty nice until the 90's. There was a lot of manufacturing there that was wiped out by NAFTA.

Same here. OHS class of '71. Other than college years and 4 working for the state in St Mary and Terrebonne Parishes, I have been here. Seen plenty of changes but it is home.

I am one of five. My oldest sibling graduated from Belmont in the early 70s and I graduated in the early 90s. My family was pretty active in the community so you probably know some of them.
