Cool. Nowhere in this thread have I really advocated for raising it, especially to $15 per hour. My thoughts on it are in my post on the first page.

So therefore raising the minimum wage would be insignificant to the overall cost of anything. Glad to have you on board.
“It won’t cost much” is a poor way to justify doing something at the federal level that will have little or no impact.

Wrong. Because those wages are concentrated in specific industries and affect small business far more than big business.
In 1979 almost 14% of workers made min wage. Today it's less than 3% if you count teens.
The current system shows that minimum wage is not a rational talking point because wages have risen faster. It's an emotion argument. It appears people are moving up without raising the wage

agreed but when the majority of arguments against sums up to, It'll cause the cost of goods and services to go up, It becomes relevant.

Nope
It hurts low wage earners and small business, mainly service industry where labor is a huge portion of the total expense. . Another tradeoff, higher unemployment

Ya, no.
Have you ever worked as a server?

Why is it idiocy?
Because every single politician out there will run on a platform of increasing the UBI.
And eventually you run out of other people's money.

But that’s not the only argument. It distorts the labor market further up the ladder and it increases unemployment where it sucks the most to be unemployed...at the bottom of that ladder.
And the only benefit seems to be to give people almost a doubling in pay for doing things that literally children can do. EDIT: And they don’t even get the pay increase because they’re employers cut their hours...because they can’t afford the forced pay increase.

service industry is exempt so try again on that one. As for small businesses sorry that's the price of doing business I don't agree with giving the large companies a "I can dick over my employees" card because Jenny and Brian took out a huge small business loan with no experience or plan and now can't afford to keep afloat.

Do you ever actually contribute anything in a thread other than call everyone tradcons and stupid boomers? Well that and dickride anyone who happens to be on the same side of the thread as you.
You're a fricking moron in every single thread you post in.

What? You're thinking of the restaurant industry. Service industry is a huge umbrella with far more industry

Well that's just an emotional argument based on nothing.
It's pretty fascist to extort small business over the "price of doing business"

That's what happens when you major in medieval french poetry .
In terms of percentage of minimum wage earners, we are at an all time low or nearly so.

Yep, the market is regulating wages better than gubment mandated min wage.

The issue is wages didn't rise with inflation. Most older people lived in a world where you could pay rent, bills and a car note on a starting job.
$3 an hour in the 70s went far. $5 in the early 90s wasn't horrible.
You can't do nothing with $8 in almost 2020.
We don't have the machinists or factory jobs anymore. So many undereducated are stuck with minimum wage.
In the 90s I knew a family who put their daughter through private school and had a house and two car notes and both worked at Walmart.
You can't do that now.
Yes it would be great if everyone had skills and better jobs.
Yet that just isn't reality.
Yep, only 10 years ago I was only bringing home 4,000 a month. My wife didn't work stayed home with the 3 kids.
We had rent and two car notes being the major bills.
Now, I make 75,000 a year, live in a house that is paid for with one vehicle note and we are struggling.

Most of those restaurants automatically add 20% to your bill and the servers don't see the full 20% that they would have in the forum of a tip.
