When you see the kinds of shows they’re putting out today that change screens every 3 seconds to keep them addicted versus shows of old that actually have long plots and storylines you realize you have a choice to make between creating little dopamine junkies and kids who can follow long logic patterns. Is there some nostalgia? Sure. But a lot of us are concerned that the modern way of parenting includes way too much reliance on sedating children with screens. They aren’t in a vacuum, they’re exposed to all of modernity in some form or another but at home we try to limit their exposure to the real world and lower tech at their current ages (5 and under). My kids watch a lot of old shows but they also watch modern kid shows and nature/engineering documentaries. I think some people took my post as us only watching the goofy movie on repeat lol maybe that’s my fault

TD time isn't typical focus time
We can only really focus in, at max 2-ish hour periods, maybe 2x/day. 3x if you're really great at focus (Which I am not anymore, but due to life issues not my issues).
The rest of the time is BS work/thinking

I don’t know if it’s normal now or not but I was driving past Denham Springs high school recently and saw a young lady walking. I wish I were making this next part up…but she was in a school uniform with a furry, poofy tail and, what appeared to be, fox ears.
If that is what’s cool now, my kids will be very unpopular.

Everyone has this plan and says this before having children…
In reality, very hard to execute… unless you are going to toss your full time nanny instead
I really cannot comprehend families that have a full time nanny for their kids if one of the spouses does not work….

Haha - I was just about to say this exact thing.

The funny part about that one is that Harry Potter turned out in the end to be Christian literature in the same vein as Narnia, it’s just JKR didn’t want to say that because it’d spoil the ending of the novels. Once they were all released, she mocked the fundamentalists that if they had actually read her books and known what they were about that they could have easily guessed the ending of it. You didn’t hear shite from the fundamentalists from the week the Deathly Hallows was released forward since they felt like idiots at the end.

The use of the word "Bruh" especially referring to their mother. I dont even know how this became a thing but the word triggers me like none other. We had it stopped over the summer and now that school has started back, the word is back.

No issues with with Pokémon, but the phase didn’t last long.
Video game immersion. That would be a nope.

That's the reason why Cocomelon is the devil and our son will never watch it. Basically anything that cuts screens that quick is an immediate no.
Try to be screen free but we'll give in on occasion, especially since it's miserably hot outside. Bluey and classic Sesame Street are our current go-tos.

At this moment, it's Messenger Kids. I know it's regulated and parent's can monitor but it still worries me.
Mine are 7 and 9.
We had a back to school get together recently and I was shocked at the number of 9 year olds with smart phones. It's depressing.
It is hard raising kids in this world we live in.

All the people saying their son or daughter can’t have a phone until they are 16-18 are in for a rude awakening. You will be basically ostracizing them socially when everyone else can communicate with each other and they are the loser that talks to no one.
This does not mean to get them a phone under 10 years old. But by at least high school they will be weird kid without one.

Play video games 24/7
Read a book! Go outside and play. If kids put half the effort into school, musical instruments, sports etc as they do in video games and watching tic toc, the world would be a better place.

Right before it closed, the wife and I started ordering from the local Mellow Mushroom, and she'd get a super cheese pizza that replicated those "cartoon pulls" from the 80s and 90s. My comparison was Ninja Turtles, but your picture is apt

This is stupid but never allow them to be a Cowboys fan. Both my kids watch sports with me and I’ve slowly sewn the poison with them on hating the Cowboys
This is the most acceptable shite. We hate the Cowboys, LSU, and Mississippi State at all times. Daughter has unfortunately started rooting for KC due to Taylor Swift, but who can plan for that?

Ehh. I know several families who do this. It’s not really that big a deal if you’re willing to follow through with things and not just give in and post laughing emojis.
Our school has also banned smart phones from campus so that definitely helps with the “everyone has them” argument. Only took one or two for it to domino.

I had to look up cocomelon. Lost a few brain cells. If kids are watching these kinds of shows, no wonder they have issues.
