I think you get the ‘buddies helping me move for beer’ maybe once after college, and that is close to college age besides.

Making money? Older than 24 or so? Pay movers to move your crap and quit inconveniencing friends and family in order to save a few bucks.

horseshite. If I offer them pizza and beer and they want to help, I didn't inconvenience them - they volunteered.

Ehh, some good buddies or family to help move you is cool. Now moving an entire house of stuff for a family, then I can see hiring a moving company.

This shite is the worst. And also feeling punished for having a truck. People you haven't talked to in years find out you have a truck and suddenly they're your best friends and want you to help them move.

I've finally learned to tell them no.

I still help my friends move when I can. What's wrong with that?

I dont mind helping people move - it's not that big of a deal as long as they have crap packed up and ready to roll. The worst part is showing up at someone's place and they still have shite in the drawers not packed and have to take 20-30 minutes between loading furniture.

Have that shite ready to go and I'll take that case of beer off your hands.

I don't know if this is said due to a recent thread I missed, but man do I agree with you. What is the deal with people and "rides to airports"? Especially New Orleans airport from BR?

I've never in my life asked someone other than my SO to drive me to the airport, and that's only because I was flying from BR and he was free at the time.

I despise moving. I'm pretty sure I haven't ever had beer that was good enough for me to accept it as payment for that nightmare.

Sorry, I'm busy that day.

Sorry you’re too poor to hire movers.

I don’t mind helping buddies move but it caps out on 2 moves. After that - time to call the moving company.

I’d rather chip in to pay for a friend to hire movers than help move. I loathe moving.
