This ain't Taylor Swift.

No assigned seating.
No bodyguards in front of the stage.
Flags everywhere.
Hot young girls.
Lots of drugs.
Rock and Roll with real instruments.
All analog.

At this point in their careers, the band was heavily into cocaine, heroin, and qualudes. Ronnie Van Zant who in the earlier years was known as a perfectionist was now just an ill tempered a-hole.

Piano player, Billy Powell had to beg for years to be a part of the band. Van Zant didn't think piano belonged in a band like theirs. - This appears false. He is very talented, however.

October 20, 1977, would be all but the end for them.

That's a good one. For the spirit of the holiday, let's throw in them blowing the Stones off the stage at Knebworth, too.

*Ronnie

And I mean.. an ill-tempered a-hole who also happened to be a musical genius who steered his band to simultaneously define and become the gold standard of a genre. But whatever.

Pretty girls - the ones that are of age of course.

No caked on makeup and lip fillers and Instagram filters and smartphones recording the entire show

All natural and living in the moment

Looked like a blast

Edit: man can you imagine how big of a badarse you had to feel like just being on stage and shredding that Explorer in everyone’s faces ???

Not at all what I have read or watched in any documentary regarding the band. If Ronnie didn’t want a piano, there would be no piano.

Free Bird isnt even a top 15 Skynyrd song. It's mind-boggling overrated.

It is pretty well unanimously acknowledged that he was the driving force behind the band. It is about equally acknowledged that as his dependence on booze and drugs grew those traits were amplified. He didn't hold is liquor all that well, and the a-hole part of him too often won out.

Also, if I might add, not a single damn cell phone sticking up in the air!

They might have been all strung out and on who knows what, but that live performance will make your neck hair stand up.

I didn't realize Meteora20 from Linkin Park came out this year - heard Lost on the radio recently. Thinking about throwing some coin at the package
