Who remembers watching this live?

Didn’t see it live, but that’s an awesome move by ole Johnny boy calling his dad.

Remember what a big deal it was. Everyone in 2nd grade was talking about that shite the next day

I liked the show, but never quite understood how it got to be such a frenzy. People went nuts over this show when it first came out.

Watched this every night back then with my parents.
I remember how stunned everyone was A) that he was the first to finally win the million and B) the way that went down with him calling his dad.
awesome stuff

Because it was a limited time run
I think originally it was only on for 15 nights
What killed it in my opinion was when they started to air it every night and over do it

How was the trip to Illusions with them later?

And by millionaire he means significantly less than $1M prize after taxes.

“Hi dad. I don’t really need your help, I just want to let you know that I’m gonna win the million dollars.”

Imagine how much of an idiot had he done that stunt of "phone a friend" and telling his Dad he was going to win a million, then go out and miss the question.

I wonder what percentage of men in South LA hear “Woodville” and immediately think “Illusions?”

And it was 20 years ago today Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play.

Between this and my mom watching Regis and Kathy Lee/Kelly Ripa religiously every morning I became the biggest Regis Philbin fan. One of the best storytellers of all time. Going to be a sad day when he dies.
