Well 74 at the front of OA was rising at a snails pace all day. But it "seems" to be picking up slightly. I quoted it cause it's dark & im eyeballing. It's still just barely going across the whole road

Oak hills place is that huge neighborhood in between highland
Siegen
Perkins
Bluebonnet
Those roads make a big square around it
That's not going to flood from this manchac alligator bayou that y'all keep taking about, right? That's too far north, right?

Funny how one could be impassible tomorrow and the first is dry as a bone. Weird

What's the elevation that it'll start spilling out of Spanish lake? At some point the water draining into Spanish lake will start draining to New River Canal (based on the observation that it's starting to run over Highway 74 by Bluff Rd), right? Won't that essentially limit the height the water will get to?
But here's the thing. The other side of 74 has been full all day too. It's not like it's spilling from the bluff side to the other side. It's the other way around.

Where is the 15' number coming from?
Total guess on my part.
I'm looking at Bayou Fountain sitting at 15' and interstate section that was flooded by Manchac was 19'. Worst case is that all that has to equalize with Alligator Bayou before it goes back toward Amite. Average those with the 12' @ bluff and you get 15.3.

Paul why the hell do you question every piece of info provided?

What water? Alligator bayou?

Yea it's all even right now. 74 won't limit anything. You won't see a big rush of water blasting over 74 like alligator bayou, because both sides are already at the same height.

I'm in Oak HIlls. We're 20 feet above highland road and dry as a bone.

Me? Yes. But on the map oak hills looks sort of close to this bayou
im just wondering if in 3 days water creeps up to there

Ok thx mytiggy
So water won't be going up 20 feet into oak hills
Thx!

Maybe if the Mississippi River levee breaks. Maybe.

Goes to show you how little I understand this stuff
Posted on 8/16/16 at 9:15 pm to MNCscripper
Someone said this earlier, but the fact that it continues to rise at a similar rate isn't good. Every 0.1" rise takes exponentially more water than the previous 0.1"'as it has more room to grow horizitontally. That's why on flood maps the 1000 year vs 500 doesn't differ much.
