If both sides are level, then no. Unless the bayou has 3ft+ sitting in it right now I don't think it's close to being level since that whole area south of Bluff is <10ft of elevation. I think it would continue to fill up the bayou until it is level with the other side of Alligator Bayou. If Amite is still sitting @ 20ft+ then Manchac is going to start emptying this way instead of back to the Amite (path of least resistance).
So you're saying where that swamp gauge is located is fooling me into thinking it's just about level?

LSU weights I'm just down from you in Springlake. That area north of Burbank is low elevation for the area. Your area and then just south of Burbank are first areas to flood at about 15' elevation. Not to mention the terrible drainage over there.
Heck...a good rain puts 6" of water behind Walgreens and McDonalds near you.
I'm praying for Ridge and Bluffs folks over near Alligator Bayou.

Correct, but we are also higher than places right next to us, like Westhaven
Water is flowing in the right direction and going down from my mark in my subdivision
I think/hope/pray the threat to Bayou Fountain is over
I am praying for the guys south of us in the swamp area as well

Friends parents refuse to leave Ridge. Bluff closed to North and water filling entrances at Oak Alley, my arse would be gone.

I think you are good now. Bayou Fountain slowly dropping and like you said...flow is reversing.
It's been a long 48 hours for sure.

Yeah, like I said earlier, I still have about 6 feet before it becomes an issue
Last night at 7:30 the water was past the dry line/crack
about an hour ago:

Where are these gauges located?
Here are the gauges I'm watching. If Alligator Bayou washes out I would expect water to flow like this based on elevations with the lower areas filling up first. Can check elevations here.

How is it looking for the neighborhoods on Bluff road north of C Braud? On the I10 side of Bluff?
Posted on 8/16/16 at 2:53 pm to ProjectP2294
Nobody here has said anything about them. Lasalle is probably sweating & we're pretty sure they're stuck there. Fountain hill is high as shite at the entrance but not sure about low points in the hood

That side is a good 8-10' higher than the spanish lake side of bluff. Real risk is becoming an island. But, that side should stay high and dry.

Can u give me a quick lesson on why those gauges are saying they're almost level but aren't?

Looks like the Bluff Swamp gauge has bit the dust. Hope that doesn't mean Alligator Bayou Road has failed...

The gauges are telling you how deep the water is at the gauge in that waterway. It's not a comparison between the two, they are just two different spots that are close together.
We're watching them to see if water is still flowing this way or if the backflow has stopped and started to recede back where it came from.
We want to see them level out and start to go down.

Just got about an inch of rain dumped on Springlake in a 20 minute time span Lovely.
LSU weights...you talking 6-7 feet to go across the ground? Or 6-7 feet of elevation?
