preparedness. I'm sandbagged, I don't think it's got a snowballs chance of getting in my house.

Bluff Swamp was 11.9'@ 1p. (.24"/hr)

Both rising at lower rate than hour before. Good sign, but if Alligator Bayou washes out all bets are off. Anybody know if they're still dropping sandbags?

If they're level, does the road washing out mean that much anymore? And as they level, wouldn't that mean the current is getting weaker & less and less chance of it washing out?

The water still generally wants to flow that way. And the current getting weaker is good, but it's still a shite ton of force.

If I understand things correctly...the water is higher on the west side of Manchac flowing over Alligator Bayou Road to the east.

That's why Ridge Rd and Bluff area is in more peril.

UClub is on the west side of Manchac.

Helicopters still running. Just had one fly over my house in Fairhill.

If both sides are level, then no. Unless the bayou has 3ft+ sitting in it right now I don't think it's close to being level since that whole area south of Bluff is <10ft of elevation. I think it would continue to fill up the bayou until it is level with the other side of Alligator Bayou. If Amite is still sitting @ 20ft+ then Manchac is going to start emptying this way instead of back to the Amite (path of least resistance).

Alligator Bayou has GOT to hold!

Agreed.

If both sides are level, it's not going to be AS big of a deal, but the water still wants to go that way. If given a path of least resistance, a lot more water is coming from upstream, because there will be more storage beneath.

Yes you're correct on both accounts. Plus as the Amite keeps receding, bayou manchac is lowering into the Amite as well as into alligator. So soon it will all equalize, but the question is when. With flows splitting in spots and combining in others, the hydraulics are complex.

So the incoming water will flow more towards I-10/Ascension or U-Club?

Where are these gauges located? Reason I'm asking is that water just doesn't fill up a swamp like a bath tub. It spreads out slowly (working through the woods), and will be much higher at Alligator Bayou Rd than by Hunt

That swamp can take A LOT of water being a former distributary of the MS River.

That swamp is absolutely lower than surrounding area so of course it's trying to flow in there. What we don't know with great accuracy is what the level of water is in the swamp. I agree...it soaks up water...not like a bath tub.

I think UClub will be fine LSUweights.

My understanding is that the water is flowing away from UClub and east towards Dutchtown/other parts of Ascension.

Thanks,
I believe I am fine
I live in the Lakes at Bluebonnet just south of highland
Bayou Fountain is 100 yards from my front door
Water has gone down over a foot since last night and would have to rise about 6-7 feet more to cause an issue to me...
I am just trying to learn how water flows and the topography of the area
Also hoping the water goes where there are no people, just land

Roger that Roscoe
Praying for you guys down there
