Where are you seeing that? I see a good reading @ 2p. They are usually about an hour behind on the readings.

Dammit...last time I reloaded the page, I got a message that readings were "not available at this location"...and I made an assumption. I'm glad I was wrong.

about 3 feet until the water starts filling into the big lakes that run along the fence and the bayou
then about another 2-3 feet to overflow the opposite side of those lakes (the high side)

The gauges are telling you how deep the water is at the gauge in that waterway. It's not a comparison between the two, they are just two different spots that are close together.
ahhhhh. Dam, I like the way I was thinking of it better. shite

So the water at the gauges is now around 12'. Community center looks like it's at 12' so it's probably in trouble. Same for Spanish lakes but closer to Nicholson is at 13' to 14' so they're in a little better shape. U club is higher so is OK.

Questions for you sir

Ward's Creek and Bayou Fountain are reporting receding.. I've seen it myself
But reports of water still backflowing from Manchac at Airline
Is that water going to reverse the receding at Ward and Fountain or go to the low area of AB and Spanish Lake?
How much longer do you think this backflowing of Manchac will occur?

What about the Bayou Paul area? Specifically Pecan Drive...

Backflow is still going to occur until the level where BM meets the Amite River is less than BM. There is less pressure on the system as the Amite continues to fall. Hence, the water receding from the interstate. Backflow is going to continue but the rate will become smaller and smaller.

Not sure. All I'm saying is it's close. Just no way to tell how high the water will get since the hydraulics are so complex and too many variables.

Bayou Fountain has seemed to level off and drop some (currently 15.18'). If the other side of the interstate is still 16ft+ then that water will be going back down Alligator Bayou.

I've been watching BF all day and it was down to 15.16, and then back up to 15.18. Wondering is the storm that just passed had something to do with that

Thanks for the information because I haven't heard people really talk about that area so far.

Help me out
16 ft at I-10 and 15.18 at BF...Does that mean that there is less than a foot of backflow left on the I-10 side near BF and 3 feet left at AB?

Weights,
The water will go to the lowest point. So right now the water elevation at alligator is 12. And let's day the water coming out of fountain near Burbank is 15 (just a guess). Then that water will flow into Spanish lake. Now, the amite at manchac point is down to 18ish. So yes that will still backflow to Spanish lake since alligator is 6 feet lower than manchac point.

Ward and fountain will not increase beyond the elevation at manchac point. They will continue to flow in the right direction, it's just that right now their flow is ending up in Spanish lake. Once manchac point gets lower than alligator, everything will start flowing the right way again.

Ehh, if it was instantaneous, sure, but obviously that's not the case. What gets me is that the water is lower on I-10, low enough to open it, yet the gages that are relatively close by are still creeping up.

I wish I knew the answer to that. I am in springlake and have been keeping an eye on that, and paying attention to any info with U club. Unfortunately I dont know how any of this works other than just watching the numbers. Sorry weights. Maybe someone else knows the answer to that, because I am curious myself.

Thanks for clarifying Juice

Pecan drive is around 15-16. Just depends on how much the water rises in the swamp before it becomes equal to the elevation at manchac point. Will manchac point fall from 18 to 15 before Spanish lake rises from 12 to 15?

Reading this and trying to understand through my nerves
BF will not backflow anymore
BF is flowing into SL
Once all backflow stops, both SL and BF will flow into Manchac
