I agree with 39mm as a perfect size. Look at the Black Bay 58 and 2017-18 Oyster perpetual models. They were selling like hotcakes.

Practically weightless vs the eight thousand psi of water crushing you.

I have a Breitling that is 50mm. It is gaudy and FlavorFlav like but I like it

I also have a Deep Sea and it's just a big and heavy watch overall.

I much prefer a big watch vs looking like Al Bundy wearing a watch that is much too small

I agree. I love Breitling, but admittedly am forced to actually use it for work, so it’s fine. Much like any other accessory, how it looks depends a lot on what else you’re wearing with it. Big watches look good with my big arse uniform jacket. I think anyone wearing a suit regularly would look just fine with a 45mm.

Nice feature when you lose something so expensive that you consider organizing a deep sea expedition to recover it.

Big watches are currently in favor which is why watchmakers are currently making them bigger. 38mm is much too small for a man unless you are 120 pounds soaking wet IMO.

For a very long time 34/36mm was normal for men. I wear a 36mm watch, but I do also have a small wrist for a man (6.25 inches).

The watch will work at 20,000 ft, but you won't.

What was the name of the diamond that the old lady tossed in the sea at the end of Titanic? Is this watch like that?
