Probably already answered but slowly during the 90s with the closer and closer trims and by the early 2000s almost everyone seemed to be waxing completely.
More natural with light trimming is really coming back past few years.

Trimming and sculpting became the thing in the 90s. The best ever pubic hairstyle is the manicured landing strip. Google Karen MacDougal playmate of the year in the 90s. Now that's perfect down-there-hair.

I’m not sure of the actual transition but currently enjoy a very well manicured lawn. More or less the equivalent to the 5 o’clock shadow or next day type of. She will full blown shave on occasion but hates the upkeep. Im all about it though.
