I have 2 degrees. Didn’t walk for either one.

Are you that introverted? Graduation is more than just walking, you get a sense of accomplishment, an earned ceremony for you and your fellow students.
Just go, you won't regret it at the end of the day

Do what you want. I didn’t go to mine and doesn’t bother me. As a parent now I can understand going not for you but for other family members to celebrate. But honestly not that big a deal either way. Your life your decision.

I graduated at 31. I didn't really want to walk but I knew my dad would be stoked that I finished after all the money he wasted on my first attempt at college. I gotta admit, it felt pretty good after all the sleep I lost over it. It didn't really feel finished until after i walked.

I didn’t walk. And I am good with it. Graduated after summer. If I remember correctly I would of had to wait to walk

I didnt at 22 - i think it would be cool for your 17 year old to see though but it's just a personal decision

I graduated at 30. Went to Miami instead of walking.
I did have my kid walk with me at the ring ceremony. He treasures that memory.
Pretty freaky he will have his college ring ceremony this May

A lot of money, time, and hard work was spent getting my degree. You bet your arse I walked. It felt great, too!

Skipped my junior high (last chance to walk for 50% of the kids) and college processions. They would have had to pay me to attend either.
Walked for high school and graduate degree. Wouldn't have missed them for anything.
Wife finished her college degree 20 years late. You could not have talked her out of walking. She was thrilled. A friend who was on the same 20+ year plan walked in the same ceremony. So some old folks do walk.

Mom told me she helped pay and was going to watch me walk across the stage. That was the end of the discussion.

Congratulations. If it means a lot to the people you love you should do it.

Finished 2 degrees at the same time and walked. They replaced my diplomas with a note saying I owed $17 for a traffic fine and to pay it to get the diplomas. The bad part was the parking ticket was given to some guy with the same first and last name as my father. No verification ...
Spent an hour making people cry until they finally got me in front of the guy who could release my diploma while my family waited.

I walked undergrad at 22 to make my mom happy but I did not walk grad school as I was on a bachelor party

Walk bro. It would great for the kids and yourself.
ps - I graduated from LSU in 1991, bs in psych. We didn't have the option to walk unless my memory is really bad. I recall listening to the speeches etc and then stood in line in the back afterwards to get our diplomas.

What is this experience exactly?
It is a waste of my time.

To each his own, but I finally finished at 28 and walked.
A long 10yr journey and I'm of the mind that walking is part of the college experience.
Plus, I had the governor of Arkansas speaking. Some guy named Clinton...
Enjoy.

I probably did it backwards. Didn't walk for undergrad (21) and did walk for grad (26). For the record I took a break, it didn't take me 5 years to finish my master's
Some of my relatives were getting older and after it became clear neither of my two cousins were ever going to sniff a college diploma I decided I should walk for the grad school ceremony.
