That's a bit harsh. My parents taught me to respect anyone that has a job. However, they would tell me that's not something you want to do for the rest of your life. I also worked at McDonald's in high school. I would save the loser label for someone that refuses to work, even though they could.

Of course anyone with a job is deserving of respect. Everyone is deserving of respect, unless they're hurting or taking from other people.

But why would your parents tell you McDonald's isn't something you want to do for the rest of your life? Maybe you're not willing to say the word out loud, but it's because anyone who ends up (not begins) flipping burgers is a loser, even if you don't want to use the word.

I’m 56 and remember when the first McDonald’s came to Hammond. It was such an event, parties, Playground, Ronald McDonald walking around. I think it changed mid 90’s when everyone discovered how unhealthy it really is. I rarely eat fast food now

Well, I'm not on a message board impersonating a woman, so I'd say that's one win in my column.

True, but I often opine about scaling down and just saying screw it. Not quite living RV life, but there’s small towns with 5-10k people in the Midwest where min wage is like $13/hour, a decent looking home is $50k, and it’s safe.

Why work 60 hours to make $150k+ but live in an area where mortgages are $8k/month? Deal with crime, drugs, crap on sidewalks, graffiti, homeless, “urban” attributes.

Migrate to Mayberry. Work at a McDonald’s, life has no stress and health insurance is paid, Home is paid off, There’s got to be something local to poke, just retire early… who are you trying to impress and why do you care…are you also judging them on their profession?

$53k and 2 miles from McDonald’s. Bike to work, you don’t even need a car

Ordering stuff like “light mayo, extra pickles, no this or that” at a fast good place fricks it up for everyone. They are there to get you some low quality food that taste decent very quickly. This isn’t a five star restaurant, you will get what is on the menu. If you don’t like one of the choices, take a hike.

It isn’t worth it to them to slow everything to a halt to placate one person. Better to just make that person mad and quickly get the orders to the other customers. Also, it’s all shitty food, asking for something like “a lightly toasted bun” is embarrassing in that situation.

I remember when fast food was a novelty. It was a treat to go to the first McDonald’s in Lexington. The place was clean, the workers were friendly and professional and the food was delicious.

Everything went into the shitter in the late sixties, early seventies when traditional values broke down. Our entire society changed top to bottom overnight, it seemed.

The political turmoil of the decade bridging that period was at the heart of the change, I think. The American work ethic was included as a victim of those times.

Suddenly, everything was about materialism. Get all you can while you can. Instant gratification, dependency upon government welfare and the rise of the left to contrast with the right were a few of the perturbations that shook our society to its core.

In the early 80s, it wasn't respected but wasn't "hated on". We all knew you should aim higher eventually, but it was a decent 1st job or college job. Even so, working was always seen as better than collecting govt money.

I worked at Dominos for a while in college. I got Driver of the Month once, several of us did. But one guy about 50 years old got it every other month. Somehow, none of us younger dudes respected that guy...FF shouldn't be a career.

I don’t want to hate on anybody who has a job in our current society. Laziness is a cancer for this generation.

What I’ll complain about is the fast food worker that has zero pride in what they do and don’t give a shite about the average customer. On the flip side, we’ve seen our share of videos where a customer beats the shite out an employee because they forgot the pickles.

It’s hard to weigh the fricked-upedness of our society against any hating I do toward fast food workers.

What, exactly, does this mean?

I respect good fast food workers, and hate the lazy stupid ones.

Always have.

And if they do, is it your business?

I’d hate on the company, not the workers.

The workers are there to provide you a service… I got home from the game last night and everybody was sleeping and I was hungry. I was thankful for McDonald’s at that point

I don't know that they do. I have never heard disparaging comments except when McDonald's workers were protesting for 15 dollars an hour some years ago.
