They want to carry on some big conversation with the girl working the register at Brookeshires who obviously doesn’t give a shite and they’re holding up the line. And then they’ll turn and see that there’s two people behind them waiting to check out and then start right back up talking about the weather or the grandkids or anything at all.

They should have their own dedicated line where they can shoot the breeze all day if they want but then keep the other lines freed up for the rest of us that just want to get in and out.

Subtle “I’m going to die alone as a miserable frick” brag.

They like to have actual interactions with real people instead of having their nose glued to their phone.

So you object to mindless drivel by useless people?

Tom Brookshire was a helluva NFL announcer and you aren’t worthy to criticize his laconic delivery style.

Order your shite online if you’re so goddam picky, ya Luddite.

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

For a few items yes. But nothing infuriates me more than when I get a weeks worth of groceries and the only line open is self check out. I don’t want to ring up 25 items

They might be lonely and enjoy having conversations.

Perhaps some of these folks are lonely and no longer have a living spouse, kids don't talk to them, etc and simply want to talk to another person.

Live with it.

I love talking & listening to old people
I’m very lucky to still have my grandfather, he’s 93 & I ask him about growing up all the time
Most old people don’t have anyone else to talk to & paying them a little attention & giving them respect makes their day

Being able to engage in conversation has become a value commodity in the workplace.
