Question… at what age is this no longer acceptable? When you have actual responsibilities?

Like me with fishing, love to fish, but I’m not waisting my time watching fishing on tv or You Tube.

Everything is a show now…

Getting older might be hell on the body but you sure learn a lot about yourself and how much you don't need to do and be involved in. Also how you don't need as many close friends as you did when you were a youngin

That's exactly how I feel about watching golf on TV.

Every time there's a thread on here about watching some golf tournament, I am astounded at the number of posters who get all worked up watching it.

If there's anything more boring than playing golf, it's watching someone else play golf on TV.

Especially when they show several angles of a slow-motion replay of a putt where the ball rolls at less than 1 MPH. Do they think we missed something important when we watched it live?!?

Everyone is different. There are people much younger who have the same interests. There are people exactly your age who would disagree on every single thing. Personally, I'm a live and let live type of guy. I don't like half of the stuff you listed, but I don't really judge anyone who does either. It's not affecting my life.

quote:

Reality TV

Agree 100%

quote:

Social Media

You may refuse to accept it, but we are literally on a form of social media.

quote:

Weed

I don't judge anyone who does it occasionally. I view it in the same way as I do alcohol. I do think it should be legal. That being said I do judge the folks who are addicted and can barely function in life due to their need to always be high.

quote:

Tattoos

I'm totally cool with tattoos, in moderation. Getting 1 or 2 small things tha has sentimental value to you, I see zero issue with that. I've thought about getting a small tattoo. For the folks who have their entire arms, legs, etc covered up in tattoos. That is super weird to me, and I will never understand.

quote:

Video games

I don't see what's so hard to understand about video games. It's just a form of entertainment. Some people spend their free time knitting. Some spend it playing music. Some spend it reading, watching tv, or posting on Tigerdroppings.

quote:

Watching people play video games

I do admit this one is weird. This is definitely a younger generation thing. It would be like watching someone else watch a movie, when I could just watch it for myself.
quote:

Food delivery

Hey man. Drinking and driving is bad. I'd much rather order food to be delivered than to get a DUI.
quote:

Hoodies in summer

This is also a much younger generating thing. My 14 year old nephew does this. I don't get it. But it's probably a fad that will go away.

quote:

Fantasy football and online sports betting (just watch the fricking game)

Why can't we do both?
quote:

Headphones in everywhere

I used to do this. I love to listen to music, it keeps me at peace. But as I've gotten older, I take them out so I can be more aware of my surroundings. Listening to music makes you less in tuned with the outside world. While I like that, I don't want to be susceptible to someone sneak attacking me because I'm in my own world.

Comic book super hero movies (movies are mostly shite now. Although TV is way better

I love comic book movies. But I do hate how they took over the movie industry, to the point where seemingly very few original movies are even being made anymore.

I don’t play em. But the video games of my youth and what happens today are worlds apart.

I do. I watch the sport because I can't conjure a regional/nationwide league in which to participate. I can't actually play in those leagues. You can play in the same arena as those you watch in video games.

It’s not really the same thing. It’s not my jam, but the “kids watching streamers” people talk about generally aren’t watching people play in silence. Think of it more along the lines of watching someone like Adam Savage build something on YouTube. Sure, you’re watching him perform a task better than you could, but you’re also there to listen to him talk about what he’s doing, crack jokes, go off on tangents about his life and past projects, etc, etc. That’s what most streamers are doing. Now, their target audience is mostly Gen Z, so they act like they are tweaked out on meth, but that’s a separate issue

18-34 has been considered the primary advertising demographic for well over half a century. We might spend a lot of money, but we apparently don’t drive enough spending decisions to be worth anyone’s time

Yeah, funny because I have a hell of a lot more spending power now than I did at 28
