Had an old porn magazine from the 1970s or 80s, full page cigarette ad in the back was a painting of a woman bent over with a cigarette up her arse, with her index and middle finger holding it, like her arse was about to attempt a hit.
I really wish I could find that again, I'd want to frame it.

This got me thinking about being a kid and walking up to the bar or the cigarette machine and getting cigs for the old man and no one cared at all.
My dad would be making the turn on the golf course and he would hand me some cash and some quarters.
While he was putting, i would order him a crown drink and getting some cigs out the quarter machine.
Now days, people would have a coronary and put a kid like that all over social media

Don Draper came up with the "its toasted" line for Lucky Strike

You aren't lying
Thankfully no one sells good loose tobacco in this city.

Remember the scene from "The Breakfast Club" where the thug describes getting a carton of cigarettes for Christmas? Turns out, not that uncommon.

Bogies has one. I wonder if they're selling it?

Couple of bars around here still have them, $9/pack.

Bogies is like 3 dollars a cig.

I wonder how much a Christmas carton of Chesterfields signed by Ronald Reagan would fetch at an auction today?

Same here. My dad smoked and he'd give me 2 quarters to run to the corner mom & pop grocery store to buy him a pack of cigarettes that were only $.35 back then and I could keep the change. For that $.15 I could get a 12 oz. soda and some loose candy.
He'd only give me 1 quarter if he wanted Bugle loose tobacco to roll his own since it was only $.15 a pack.
He'd also send me to get his beer and, like you, nobody gave a damn and sold it to whoever wanted it.
ETA: The owners of the corner store also broke open a couple packs of cigarettes every day and sold them 2 for $.05. Their regular price for a whole pack was $.35 and selling them loose at 2 for a nickel saw them make an extra $.15 a pack.
