Who couldn't see this coming?

The mayor of an Oklahoma city amended an emergency declaration requiring customers to wear face masks while inside businesses after store employees were threatened with violence.
Stillwater Mayor Will Joyce announced the change Friday afternoon, less than 24 hours after the declaration took effect.
“In the short time beginning on May 1, 2020, that face coverings have been required for entry into stores/restaurants, store employees have been threatened with physical violence and showered with verbal abuse," City Manager Norman McNickle said in a statement. "In addition, there has been one threat of violence using a firearm."

Joyce said in a series of tweets that he expected some pushback on requiring face masks but did not think there would be physical confrontations with employees and threatening phone calls to City Hall.

We aren’t all in this together?

This will become the new form of protest and the face mask rule will fizzle out by July

Physically threatening store employees is waaaaay crazier than telling people to wear masks.

Somehow most of the OT will disagree with this statement

Well me for one. Why would I think someone would be threatened with violence for wearing a face mask?

Why would anyone threaten store employees?
If anything, it's more tragic that the city gave into these morons after this display of behavior

You would need a team of bouncers at each store to make that idea work. Grocery store employees can't be the enforcers. Bad idea all around.

Two things to think about:
1) Do you really believe that these employees were threatened with physical violence? Or, were they just heavily berated for trying to enforce the policy?
2) Do you not think it is crazy that our elected leaders are REQUIRING free people to wear masks if they go in public? Especially considering that we now know this virus has a very low mortality rate for most people?
I'm not trying to call you out -- only encouraging you to really think about the situation and ask whether it makes sense.

I feel like tensions between restaurant/retail and guests are starting boil over. A lot of those businesses, mainly mom and pop. Already feel screwed so why put up with their crap

Okie City mayor more of a pussy than the alleged pussy behavior of Louisiana officials I consistently see bitched about on here on a daily fricking basis with a new fricking thread every time because illiteracy and laziness runs rampant on the OT with the influx of poliboard count.
