I was right then. I believe an 11 gt500 has 662 hp stock. Lightly modded it will easily hit 200+

Parents own a race shop? Took dads car on a joyride? Birthday present?

There are a number of reasons.

I'be been 176 in a mostly stock with speed governor disabled challenger RT. Just need enough road.

Stock hellcat challenger will hit 202, charger 204

I once got popped as a teenager in a speed trap going 106 in a V8 Grand Cherokee and a crappy, white trash mustang got popped in the same speed trap going 161.

He went to jail. Looked like he was a Livingston Parish native.

I hit 155 on the Autobahn in Germany. It was ok because the roads are smooth. I regularly cruised at 110. There's no way in hell I'd go that fast (the 155) anywhere in the States. These roads suck too bad for that type of speed.

ETA- And what the hell was that Trooper driving that let him catch the dude? The guy should have easily gotten miles ahead of him and got of the Turnpike without the Trooper having any idea where he was.

It said he caught up to him at a redlight. That boy don't look too bright - I'm betting he floored it to the next exit and then stopped at the light at the bottom of the ramp.

ou can get cars to go really fast but you need the rubber to handle it. I want to say the Bugatti can do 250, but it's tires would blow up in ten minutes at that speed, which is okay because it would run out of fuel before then at that speed.

Been 152 in my old Roadrunner (HEAVILY built engine )many moons ago. Have been 147 on my Harley (Modded V-rod FYI) Both will incI believe with todays tech the 176 for that car is obtainable with either heavy engine work and rear end gearing or with turbos (twin) and reworking of the intake and exhaust systems.
The 208 sounds a bit out of the realm of reality for that car, but I have no idea how worked up it is. At those kind of speeds aerodynamics come into serious play and can ruin everyones party real quickly.
Had a dude in my hometown in Ga. that had a Superbird AND a Daytona 500 (Big huge wings on the back of the car for you youngsters). He decided to fiddle with the angle of the wing one day and was rolling down the I-185 when the rear end lifted off the road at @ 140. Totalled the car but was able to walk away from it. Lesson learned....mistakes at speed are usually expensive and/or deadly.
