I’m assuming the swings in ticket prices are not as volatile as gas prices. How long before lower oil prices impact airline fares?

I’m torn because with higher prices ,it keeps the bonnets and pajama pants out of the air. Makes for a much more enjoyable flight

Oil prices go up. Airfare goes up.

Oil prices drop. Airfares stay at newer high prices. Customers still pay high prices.

I have to fly out to Denver next week for a meeting. Ticket was $980. That’s pretty damn high for a mid-week domestic fare.

Never. But you can buy an upgrade from basic toilet seat to basic toilet seat with windows for only $64 per leg.

My experience says your assumption is incorrect.

IIRC Back in the day Southwest had invested in fuel so when the price went up so did their investments. Again, IIRC they did better post 9/11 comparably.

Ouch.

I have always wanted to try flying stand by and if airlines would give you a decent rate. Of course that is like hitchhiking, but you can pay a low fare at times.

Airline revenue mgrs factor in jet fuel price and incentives into their 90+ month ticket pricing.

Assuming you're trying to book travel during the summer, nil. A route that is $1,200 now is $300 in November, and that's not because of fuel.
