It has now been confirmed that the younger pilot is the one who said "goodnight" after the transponder was turned off, so it looks like he was in on it.
Ok, so if you're talking to someone and its very late at night should we be concerned if you tell them goodnight? Jesus

Maybe co-pilot had to be the one to talk to ATC because pilot was below cockpit tinkering with electronics?
This is what I was thinking. I saw a news report that said you had to go below to manually unplug something. Maybe the co-pilot was not in on it, but just thinking he was big stuff getting to fly the plane for a bit?

It seems as though it would be possible (though not probable) to have landed the plane, and load it with a nuclear device or dirty bomb, and use this plane as a delivery mechanism for an EMP over Europe or another heavily dependent area of the world on electricity.
For years, we have heard of the damage an EMP could do to the US, but the two issue for the terrorist were to (1) get a dirty bomb or nuke; and (2) have a delivery mechanism (most say a rocket shot off of a ship close to US mainland.
Well, if they have a nuke (maybe Iran has developed one or even North Korea), and they have a plane that can fly at 40,000 feet (i.e., a delivery mechanism), then they have the capability to send the US or Europe back to the 1800s pretty quickly.
I get what an Electro Magnetic Pulse does, but how hard would it be to build one to do that?
From what I gather that type of bomb is just speculation. As no major nation has ever mentioned having one. I get that Nukes can create EMP but then again, did the lights of Las Vegas ever flicker with all those nearby nukes?

They did fly around and under radar.
Do we know this for sure? I thought the altitude data from the satellites/radar was iffy at-best.

That I do not know...though the doomsdayers seem to make it sound real simple. Moreover, hypothetically, if the nuke device were shot down by intercepting planes, could that ignite a nuclear reaction? What sort of radioactive mess would hit the ground if it were intercepted and shot down?
All interesting questions.

possibly. The transponder can be shut off from the cockpit, but I'm unsure about the monitoring systems. I've said before, with the pilot's knowledge, I will be shocked if there is anything on the 2 hour cockpit voice recorder, and anything usable on the black box.

It's very common for the copilot to fly the plane by himself. All they're really doing is adjusting their altitude/airspeed by knobs once they take off. It's also very common for either pilot to go out on the radio or operate the transponder. They're both qualified for the same job.

Nope, but I can name all 5 of those guys, one closest to us is from Slidell.

NO.
The US has had quite a few planes crash while carrying Nukes.
also had a missile explode in Arkansas.
quote:LINK
On the evening of the 18th, at about 6:30 p.m., an airman conducting maintenance on a USAF Titan-II missile at Little Rock Air Force Base's Launch Complex 374-7 in Southside (Van Buren County) just north of town, dropped a socket from a socket wrench, which fell about 80 feet (24 m) before hitting and piercing the skin on the rocket's first-stage fuel tank, causing it to leak. The area was evacuated.
At about 3:00 a.m., on September 19, 1980, the hypergolic fuel exploded. The W53 warhead landed about 100 feet (30 m) from the launch complex's entry gate; its safety features operated correctly and prevented any loss of radioactive material. One Air Force airman was killed, others seriously injured and the launch complex was destroyed.[1] The former launch complex was decommissioned, disassembled, and now stands on private land.[2]

from what i hear, they often say goodnight when leaving a set of controllers as they were at that point.... so you might be jumping a bit.
The fact that "Goodnight" was said AFTER the transponder was turned off is what is suspicious... And that HE was the one that said it, not the older guy.

IMO, the odds that both pilots were involved are about as astronomically against those same odds that one pilot was.
In other words, the older pilot acted alone in the cockpit, possibly could have had assistance from the cabin, but less likely odds of that.

Could be, but again all this thread really is is our opinions. You may think that, while it may be possible there is a bigger plot at hand.
IMO this does not look like a pilot suicide mission.

Well, something was preventing them from trying to contact someone... if its because of no signal, phones confiscated, or everyone was dead is obviously unknown.
As for their current status? Unfortunately, I believe everyone is dead. Its pretty much impossible to keep 230+ people hidden & quiet for 10+ days.

Hopefully, the US Military knows more than they are letting onto by searching the southern Indian Ocean.
Is it possible to fly at a low altitude and avoid all radar detection?

We'll, the only reason I'm still following this is on the chance it is not a suicide.
I would like to hear more about the pilot's personal and family situation prior to the flight, than I would the countless conspiracies.
If they can clear that up first, then.....

I stopped right here:

If we don't stop fcuking with the moon, more strangeness is going to happen. We humans, seriously believe we are the only life form. There are other powers,---not anything like we humans---around. As long as we don't bother it, them, or whatever, they don't feel threatened by us. However, America has historically been known to believe they have the right to explore and conquer, and then claim as their own, other territories. I pray that these people are found unharmed and okay, but sooner or later, we have to acknowledge that this is something bigger than us (humans). Or we have to acknowledge that government is experimenting on a larger level than we choose to believe.
