taser would have been appropriate...
Unfortunately she didn't grab her taser.
Problem is that tasers don't always work and he could have grabbed a gun and killed any of the officers. It's best not to make officers make a fast decision. I'm wondering what his end game was going to be after he jumped back in the car? Was it to try and start the car/speed off possibly injuring innocent bystanders as police gave chase, to grab a gun in his car and shoot the police or to just sit in his front seat?

Someone help me make sure I'm up to speed:
1. Individual driving with expired tags pulled over.
2. Standard traffic stop results in a 2nd driving violation (item hanging from rear view mirror) & standard ID/warrant check is initiated.
3. Warrant check comes back to active warrant for individual with prior weapon charge, resisting arrest, & failure to appear to court (physically or Zoom).
4. Individual resists lawful arrest attempt from lead officer, who is a male AA, attempting to flee via vehicle that hasn't been searched or cleared by officers on scene.
5. Female officer with over 20 yrs on the job & 0 racial claims against her admits to accidental/incorrect weapon deployment & usage.
Is this all accurate?
Wright also had an aggravated robbery charge from 2019, unsure if this had been adjudicated yet. Also unsure if LE would have seen this when they ran his ID but seems likely. I would be willing to bet he has a lengthy juvenile record.

I’m also of the belief that shooting him wasn’t entirely out of line. When you dive back into a car there is a good probability that you’re going for a gun, fleeing (and possibly running over 3 officers like those two kids who carjacked the Uber Eats driver). So, you’ve chosen your fate at that point
I tend to agree with this somewhat. And I will first say that part of this definitely armchair QBing. But I think that when he made a dash to get back in the car I would have definitely, 100% grabbed my gun and NOT the taser. There is a possibility he is going for a gun, and I'm not bringing a taser to a gun fight. Now, here is the easier said than done part, if he begins reaching (under the seat, on the side of the seat, console, etc.) he is getting shot. And I'm sorry if it ends up being a phone, or his wallet. etc. he is reaching for. I'm not taking a chance. Now, if I can see his hands and he is merely trying to escape, I'm not shooting. There is no one in front of the car so he isn't posing an immediate threat. We will roll back and pursue. I know that is split second decision making and easier said than done, but that is what I believe should have happened.
TLDR
She should have grabbed her gun, not the taser. Unless he was reaching, she shouldn't have shot him.

If the female officer had intentionally drew her gun, and intentionally shot him because she believed it was necessary to protect herself or others from serious bodily injury from this guy who had a warrant and was trying to run from the police, would she have been in the wrong? If the cops couldn’t stop him from getting away and he proceeds to step on the gas and run over a kid down the street would that have been a better outcome than the idiot getting shot?

Thats why the chief was instructed on not showing the video during his press conference.

the fact that it was a woman has nothing to do with it. there are plenty of shitty male officers out there too.
There are a handful of exceptions to practically every rule. However, as a general rule, women do not belong in combat or street police work.
We had a female MP that worked the front gate to Lejeune back in the day. She could bench over 250 pounds (witnessed it in the gym myself) and looked intimidating. She could probably hold her own in a hand to hand scenario with someone her size or smaller, male or female. I still wouldn't want her in my fighting hole.
Competent women in the military (non-airwing) and on a police force are few and far in between. That's just the facts of life. It doesn't mean they don't have intrinsic value as a human...it just means they aren't well suited for certain roles. There are other roles that males aren't well suited for, in general. Two way street.

Apparently the officer has been fired, the city manager has been fired, and the city council has approved the firing of the police chief

That's funny. What the hell did the city manager or police chief have to do with this lady employing the wrong weapon? I know a chief is accountable for his people, but come on...that's just silly. Given that both are probably far left loons, good for them though...fire them all.

Yeah, if I'm in the process of cuffing someone and they jump back in their car, I'm 100% pulling my gun and not my taser. I have a feeling she would've gotten a little more leeway had she not clearly stated she thought she was deploying her taser. I believe this guy had a warrant out for a gun related crime, so they were already going into this arrest thinking that a gun was almost certainly in play.

We are at the part where they will appoint a police chief with no experience and no idea how to run a police department. But, he/she/it will certainly check all the boxes that don't matter, though.

What a tremendous frick up. Sucks for everyone.

Not really. It usually takes very specific steps and actions to even get to the point that a gun is drawn on you. It is 100% a decision that is made by the person that has been stopped. I've had numerous interactions with police over the years, including some not so pleasant ones, and have never had a gun pulled on me.

Can't wait to see the replacement.

A mother shouldn’t have to worry about her son every time he has warrants for weapons charges and tries to run away from cops. He is a King. He doesn’t have to listen to or follow the orders of police.

Police chief probably said F it, I’m out...the ensuing shite show is not going to be worth it.

IIRC, the chief and the manager had a disagreement at a presser and the chief fired the manager immediately. The chief announced the officer was fired, but the manager said no, she will go through due process first. Bam, chief fired manager. Now chief gone, lol.
