Nah, they were going to destroy the city regardless.

Exactly.

Without a doubt, especially with the spineless leadership of the local government.

Police being ordered to abandon their own precinct?

The poor policing by Chauvin should not be followed by even poorer policing by officers being ordered to abandon their post.

There's no indication that this was a racially motivated event. He might still be dead if he was white too.

That being said, if you are a small government conservative than you are a moron if you are ok with the cop's actions in this incident. He should be prosecuted.

WTF? So being black should automatically result in the same treatment as black criminals?

That is a disgusting worldview that he apparently has. Really shows how his heart is profoundly warped.

Exactly. He should take some time off to consider what he's saying. Say...a year.

George Floyd's gofundme has gone from 1.6 million last night to 2.7 milli today.

Incredible.

So, its okay to treat me, an American citizen poorly, because people who share my pigmentation have committed crimes. Is that what you are saying? Also, are you one of those people who says that you are not responsible for the wrong doings of other white people, past and present?

It would help to lower your interaction with police officers. That goes for society as a whole. People tend to forget this is a two way street. People literally want to kill police officers. You end up having low educated people now scared the other will kill them and this is what happens.

To fix this will require changed behavior from everyone, including black males.

To be fair, I understand the heart of what you are saying, but...

Millions of blacks are law abiding citizens, myself included. What more would you expect us to do? Honestly, I'm asking.

Condemn criminals? Done

Pay taxes and be productive members of our society? Done

Focus on education? Done

Lift my community, take pride in my neighborhood, love my country, be a leader in my family, give my time and mentor the youth? All done.

The problem is, when you encounter me in public and you only see the color of my skin, none of the above matters. Honestly speaking, that can be very frustrating and can also be applied to all races of people and even people of certain occupations.

The simple answer to these problems facing our country tight now, race relations, politics, policing, etc. is simply there is no simple answer.

Just start by being a fair and honest person with all. I mean I have so much I could say, but it'd be a book. I just think a little sympathy and empathy from all people in the country would go a long way.

I actually moved several years back, but I never updated. I use to stay in the Garden District.

They downvote you because you’re you. But in this instance, you’re mostly right.

White people have made reparations.

What have your people done?

So much to unpack here.

That link that you provided quoted the charging documents as saying the following :

quote:

Officer Lane again expressed concern and Officer Kueng checked Floyd’s pulse but did not find one, and yet the officers inexplicably continued to hold their positions on top of the unconscious suspect until EMS arrived on the scene, the charging documents said.

That's the issue for these cops (especially the main one). People resist all the time, but even when another officer expressed some concern about the position they had him in and how the guy had his knee stuck on his neck, he said they were going to keep him in that position and inexplicably held his position even though there was absolutely no need to at that point. He was face down and cuffed. He had zero reason to still be on him like he was.
