Why the hell would a co-worker suggest this. At lunch a few days ago made a big deal of it and how amazing it would be...of course everyone felt awkward saying no. I'm pumped up to cook like crazy Wednesday night-Thursday early...but I really don't want to start that shite Tuesday so I can bring my co-workers something Wednesday. Prob gonna phone it in and bring a pack of rolls or something so whatever... Also, work is slow and felt like starting a random topic so here it is

Always volunteer the plastic-ware, napkins or plates.

Having our office pot luck in about 15 mins. Everyone participates and loves it. Always a great spread. Been looking forward to eating myself into a coma since last week. Sorry about your shite attitude, scott.

Get a 12 pack of fried chicken and call it a day. That or a Little Cesar's pizza as an f you to the person who suggested.

it's not the potluck it-self...it's the timing. who the hell wants to cook for coworkers the day before they go all out cooking for family?

someone beat me to that one on the sign in sheet...also on there are drinks, plates, veggie tray, and ice cream. It's clear no one is feeling this

One of my personal favorite is to bring jalapeno poppers. Made a few with sweet peppers, some normal, and a few sneaky ones with all the seeds still in.

And if those are already taken, you can't go wrong with Soda and Ice.

ETA: You already covered those. What about store bought cookies or brownies?

If there's one thing I've learned about potlucks it's to wait til the last minute and then ask what else they need. Every single time I end up getting told to bring plates/silverware/napkins or 2 liters.

That is how you win.

I usually bring a pot of collards or blackeye peas for our office potluck. I actually like it when we do it because we set up grills behind the building and cook deer poppers, not much work gets done

It's not that hard dude. You could have bought a couple of pork tenderloins for like $15
total preseasoned and tossed them in the oven for half an hour. Easy, quick, and wouldn't look like the a-hole that picked up a pizza. You just want to be a sour little baby.

read above post.... everyone is basically signing up to do as little as possible. no one wants this, but we felt bad saying no. Everyone is gonna be that a-hole that just brings a pizza.

Yet, you are the one whining about it on a message board. Sounds like you and your coworkers are a great bunch.
