Why the hell would a co-worker suggest this. At lunch a few days ago made a big deal of it and how amazing it would be...of course everyone felt awkward saying no. I'm pumped up to cook like crazy Wednesday night-Thursday early...but I really don't want to start that shite Tuesday so I can bring my co-workers something Wednesday. Prob gonna phone it in and bring a pack of rolls or something so whatever... Also, work is slow and felt like starting a random topic so here it is
Just pick something up. Boudin and cracklins.

I understand where you’re coming from I guess. However it’s not that way for every company.
We’re a sales agency and after big sales/wins our management always buys lunch on Fridays. We get that damn near every Friday, so I will say that our management are not cheap asses. The participation in our potluck is voluntary, but everyone participates and I say again...it’s good eats.
Cheers to all you potluck supporters.

Have everyone head to the local bar after work and buy a couple of drinks and an appetizer if it's necessary to socialize.
On one hand I prefer this...on the other, I'm not sure that's how I want to spend my off time. Like I said.... I don't mind stuff like this, just pick a less shitty time to have it

What are the good eats? Again, it also just seems gross to me. No telling how they cooked that food, and then everyone hovering over the trays/dishes.
Again, take off work 20 mins early. Hit the bar and grab a couple of drinks, and hang out that way.

I work with civilized people so I'm not worried about getting year old bread or someshit. We have had them before and dishes have included gumbo, different desserts such as cookies, brownies, etc, things like chick fil a, Buffalo chicken dip, typical casseroles, all sorts of shite. It's not finger sandwiches from Fred's or whatever the low income people you work with bring.

Didn't realize you H&R Block employees could afford that shite.

Alright clearly there’s no convincing you that not all potlucks are shitty. Sorry you hate your coworkers and that you would feel forced to be with them.
As far as what are the good eats...the majority homemade stuff with their own recipes. Couldn’t really tell you exactly because I trust my coworkers who aren’t trashy poors making crappy food in an unsanitary way. This isn’t the Golden Corral buffet line. I tell them what they made is delicious and leave it at that.

Works in an office that actually has potlucks. Accuses others of working with low income people.

Great joke, can't have an office potluck when you live in a hotel and your workplace is a railgard I guess.

I don't hate my coworkers, and I am friends with some, but aren't we all generally "forced" to be with them?
It's cool that some of you enjoy this. I just generally find the concept to be somewhat odd.

Are you against catered lunches as well? It's the same thing except more personal.

*company's.
I'm very impressed. I don't really keep up with what the admin staff does at my company, but I hope you enjoy your potluck.

* you're. Whatever you do for a living, we can rest assured that it doesn't involve effectively communicating with others.

This 100 percent. I'll pass on those casseroles coworkers bring, and especially when they are not hot. Never been a fan of stranger's food. I mean, i'd eat it if I were starving but that's not the case in America right now!
