Law firm Christmas parties were the shite up until around Katrina. An HR manager's nightmare, but they seemed to not care as much back then.
But we have had some good ones over the years, especially before the ubiquity of cell phones. Drinks start flowing at noon. There was the time we were thrown out of the Napoleon House and asked never to return after a female employee took her shirt off and danced on a table while another one barfed everywhere. And I mean literally everywhere.
Or the time that a 50-something female employee/predator got busy with a 20-something male associate in the bathroom at the Chart Room and were caught red handed. Or the time two female paralegals (you would) were making out on the dance floor at Razoo. Good times.
The fact is that those days are gone. The world is a sadder, darker, less festive and more depressing place nowadays.

Sounds like you should be throwing private Christmas parties and just invite the cool people

Sounds like a defense lawyer party, we still burn the fricking town down. But, there are two parties, one at the office and then it continues only with the cool people.

You’ve just gotta be more sneaky with the way you have fun now.

They were still awesome until years after that.

Very true. The era of smartphones, HR, #metoo, bogus sexual harrassment allegations...you'd have to be insane to do anything nowadays, especially an attorney.
Keep them paralegals at arm's length.

I am guessing you saw the news story this morning on how companies nation wide are either not serving alcohol or issuing “two drink tickets each” this year? And the smug frick wits that were bragging how they are bringing civility to the work place by promoting these policies. frick those people.

I got road head from an admin assistant while driving her home because she had too much to drink. It was my second week with the company.

Looking at cleavage is like looking at the sun, it's one look and then you look away!

Then it's not a great Christmas Party. Those that end in February with a courier delivering divorce papers tend to be the best.

Thus the question mark. More of a sarcastic tone.

Day of the Nerds should be coming up soon in New Orleans. That's a fun day to be in the Quarter.
*Day of the Nerds is when the lawyers all get their bonus on a Friday in December and proceed to drop coin and get hammered.

Worked at one of the big firms in Downtown Baton Rouge during college as runner. Can confirm.
Members used to go bar hoping with the employees all afternoon after the company event ended and always picked up the entire tab.
Only thing scandalous that I ever heard of was the receptionist getting some BBC from a lawyer who is now a State Representative.
Damn those were some good days.
