This was going to be my submission. Sublime could have been huge if he was around to promote their self titled album.

I know you're being facetious but I would have liked to see what Elvis would have done if he could have broken away from Tom Parker and his sycophants, probably impossible but there was a lot of untapped potential there

Some seem to think he would be a preacher in Arkansas

I would have liked to have seen what change would have occurred through Metallica's career had Cliff Burton lived. In the same vein even though he went crazy and quit early on instead of passing away is Syd Barrett

All the really good ones have already been mentioned, but Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon is one I haven't seen itt.

Metallica w/ Cliff Burton

Guy was an amazing bassist. The And Justice For All album was almost void of strong bass lines.

Townes Van Zandt

He lived into his 50s i think, but either drugs or mental illness made it where he couldn’t reliably work. Pancho and Lefty is one of the best songs ever written imo.

Bob Marley seems like the easy option to me. His later music before he died was really taking off. Sublime after that.

Has to be Jimi Hendrix. He was an artist with that guitar. I would love to hear what his music would have progressed to over the next two decades.

Shocked it took me to page 3 to find this.

It would have been interesting to see where he would have gone. I liked the way he was heading with In Utero. More gritty, raw sounding. More dissonance in the songs.

On that same note, if Layne had been able to stay clean and active in AIC. We got to see a lot of what Cornell did after Soundgarden at least.

I think Cobain was always going to implode, especially when other grunge bands started overshadowing Nirvana.

Chester Bennington. That death hurt. I went home from work that day and played stuff like "leave out all the rest", "the message", and stuff like that and it just killed me. Linkin park has always been my favorite band and I'm BIG into music, so that's a big honor. Everything that would have been written if he lived is a major loss.

Definitely agree on Chester.

Also previously mentioned, Elliot Smith, Layne, Ian Curtis. I know Chris Cornell didn't die young, but he was a major loss IMO.

I also wish Dolores O'Riordan was still around.
