Without knowing of the logistics of something like this. Why not find some vast nearly unusable land in New Mexico, Arizona etc. to do this.

The usable land on the surface is not what determines ideal sequestration sites, rather it is the minerals in the strata that can complex with CO2

As I started reading this thread, I thought it was a bunch of trolls, but I finally decided it’s mostly

sheer stupidity

I’m too tired to even start addressing all the idiocy on display. The only relevant question is the one someone asked, how much are we as a society willing to pay to subsidize this foolishness? Considering how much we continue to pay as consumers to support the great ethanol as fuel boondoggle, maybe plenty.

Nope. This thread is a classic case of people who know next to nothing popping off at the mouth.

First thing I thought.

"Capitalism is great--except when I disagree with it."

Knowing some of Weyerhaeuser's operation in Livingston Parish, I wouldn't be surprised if they are using the property in Gum Swamp for this. If so, it can't be developed anyway because it has a permanent Easement on it. Several thousand acres under the Easement at that. It adds another revenue stream to that property, which can't be used for timber harvests anymore--or, at least, not to the degree it once was.

And it's CO2...big deal. Just wait until farmers are being paid for the same thing all over the state. Then watch how much people bitch about this.

This is the future, people. We are going to artificially increase the amount of CO2 going into the ground because we just keep building and eliminating the natural Sequestration cycles.

The underground storage of pollutants would be much preferred to whatever the hell waste management is doing in walker.

That and proximity to emitters. Think of this as a midstream service to help existing and especially new chemical & LNG plants to be able to comply with growing government regulations regarding greenhouse emissions.

Cool. Mix up the emissions with the natural methane. What could go wrong?

CO2 flooding as an EOR (enhanced oil recovery) method has been a thing for 40+ years.
