I like their perpetual calendar model. It sort of looks like a less expensive version of the Breitling Transocean 1461

The FC perpetual is a great deal for a perpetual calendar as it can be found close to $4500. While the Breitling 1461 includes a chronograph (w/tachymeter) for ~3500 more it is actually not a perpetual, it is a leap year calendar and has to be reset every 1461 days, thus the name. The FC won't need a manual adjustment until March 1 2100 (due to the odd Gregorian calender issue) of course that is just academic.

Outside of the onion crown I like the look of the FC better.

You got any with the actual numbers on there like a timex? I really like the ironman series.

Sure but you will have to up the budget a bit.

For ~$95,000 you can get a Lange Zeitwerk date.

I have bot ha Hamilton and a Tissot. My automatic Tissot has been my all time favorite watch. I wear it over my vintage Omega and Hamilton, though the Hamilton I have is awesome if you are into thin watches.

Thank you very much for this informative and expertly organized essay. I learned much and feel all of the OT has been edified through your timepiece discourse. I inherited several Rolex watches which I do not wear. Instead, I use a simple Casio. I used to wear an Ironman, but they broke every three years so I started with the Casio simple face watches and have been quite pleased.

Would you mind doing a top ten watch list for quartz powered digital watches please?

The Germans have much better style, albeit with Swiss movements at this price point.

I just want to know how many watches you own and how much you have invested in your entire current collection?

I have one watch, and it's 30 something dollar Casio that I use when I make the occasional trip offshore.

This isn't to rag on you, just genuinely curious because there are many watch threads on the OT.

Honestly, it has nowhere near the depth and thought you put into your threads.

Wear them, that is their sole purpose in life.

There have to be dozens of people on tOT more qualified to do that thread but since you ask so nicely I will put together something later today.

Downvoted because you obviously spent time gathering your material, but absolutely no time lazily smattering it together in an unorganized list you dumped into the OP. It should be sorted in relation to price, or alphabetically by brand, or by arbitrary rating system, or by any consistent method of your choosing. However, I'm left to assume your opinion on "entry-level Swiss watches under $2000" is as sloppy and misguided as your presented material.

You should just go ahead and purchase a nice Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore watch. You might be able to find one under $15,000.

I have shown a picture of most of my collection before, there have been a few changes since then but my total is 64 at the current time.

As for what is invested I do not have a solid figure, much of the value comes from nearly 30 years of buying, selling, and trading watches. Replacement value wouldn't be cheap.

Funny enough without the Swatch most of the Swiss watches made today would not exist. They carried the Swiss watch industry through the "quartz crisis" and helped ensure the survival and renaissance of mechanical watchmaking in Switzerland, by preserving its industrial manufacturing base.

Casio GW-5510 multi band would probably be the only digital watch on my list. Have always like the classic square G-shock. Seiko has a few high-accuracy quartz analog watches. I have a Bulova Precionist that was a gift, never wear it because it's a massive watch, but it sits in the watch case next to a Citizen World Time GPS and after more than a year the Bulova is within 5 seconds of the Citizen. Casio just released a very limited run of their new 8.4Mhz HAQ quartz watches, touted to be +-1 second/year without needing to receive an external signal to calibrate.
