Any kind of license or exemption that you need for Podunk areas will make you jump through 50 frickin hoops to get through
I had to go to 3 different sherriffs offices and pay 4 separate entities just to get my liquor license in a certain parish

Yep, from one inspection station to the next one varies. In MS I had my car inspected and the guy checks every window. Then tells me the factory tint is to dark on rear side windows. I went a mile away and got a new sticker, without the tint being looked at.

LSP is making it a pain in the arse on purpose because they don't want this responsibility anymore. They are hoping enough people will bitch to their Legislators and get revised tint levels passed. In fact, they authored a revised statute this past session but it never made it to the floor. Frankly, Legislators don't care because they wrote themselves an automatic exemption.
Not talking out the side of my neck, got this info during a meeting with the LSP Captain over that Division and the House Counsel for LSP. LSP Captain also said he will seek to deny every exemption he can just to make it suck for people. Lawyer was squirming in his seat when the Capt was spouting this BS. My response was, "so you are doing your best not to do your job?" Lots of blank stares on that comment.

Go to an oil change place
Get oil change
Tell them you want a brake tag
Buy extra wipers or air filter or whatever
The techs make money off of the extra shite they sell, so use that as a bargaining tool

i had to get one because my youngest son had eczema to the point the he would scratch it until bleeding
sunlight only made it worse so blacked out the windows
but yes its a pain in the arse to get
Dr. needs to sign saying there a medical problem
FBI fingerprint card, shite ton of papers to send in everything cost around $60
then takes about 3 months to get and last 3 years
good luck

Ummm or instead of going through all that...just become friends with a window tinter..
I just pay mine once a year to strip off the 2 front windows. I then get it inspected and bring it back and let him re tint the fronts.

Went to a cheap eye clinic with a young guy as doctor, got in the room with doctor...showed him the paperwork I needed to have illegal tint and that i needed to have one of these conditions to quailify.....he examined my eyes wrote down a good description about my sun allergy and how my pupils improperly dialate when exposed to direct sunlight which in turn could be a hazard when behind the wheel.....he signed paper, I took paper and diagnosis paperwork back to LPS office and got a sticker to keep in corner of my window to show any officer that pulls me over....DOUBLE 5 all the way around...

I just went to different stations until I found one that didn't check the tint. I now roll the front windows down before getting checked. This has worked for years.

Just pay the fine. The same BR Sheriff has written me three tickets. He's always camped out in front of my parents neighborhood. After the third ticket he just gave up
Nice guy though, very polite every time and he never shot my dog.

Sounds like BS or you are dumb because it would be smarter and cheaper to get a two-year inspection sticker for an extra $10.

Anything darker than factory tint is trashy. G
Considering each state has different tint %'s allowed, is this even done at car factories?

In ms, my eye doctor said the only way he could write me one is for some special condition where sunlight causes blindness. I then got a tint ticket a week later ????. 5%. Ticket won't hold up in court tho cause the cop didn't measure it, just wrote "too dark" on the ticket

Before calling someone dumb you fricktard you should actually know a little about qualifications of those eligible for 24 month brake tags..
quote:
Vehicles domiciled in one of the five parishes designated as ozone non-attainment areas, that require emissions testing shall only be eligible to receive a certificate of inspection that is valid for the duration of one year (12 months). The five parishes currently designed as non-attainment areas are East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Ascension, Iberville, and Livingston.
So who's dumb again??

The problem with the inspection sticker guys is that they don't calibrate the machine so the readings aren't accurate. One shop I went to read 40% which is legal in LA as 16%. I laughed at the guy, and asked him if he could see me clear through the window he said yes, I told him then there is no way the tint is 16%. Went elsewhere to get my inspection sticker.
