What a waste. Just more bureaucracy.
Overwhelming majority of people will read, or care what's in the beer. It's another case of the government doing something just for the sake of calling it progress.

I agree with this.

I see your point here and I'm not trying to be difficult. And I definitely think it's unwarranted...BUT, I don't mind having calorie content and other important nutrition facts, like added sugars, on the things we consume. Beer is basically like dessert, though...who cares how many calories are in it?
Well, the specifics of the requirements carries penalties. If you are off by 5-10 calories you are penalized. Thus, for a brewery, you'd have to have your beer tested before sending to market. And id assume you will be testing every batch of beer made. Then once the testing is done, you'd have to reprint labels, or send those statistics to retailers/restaurants, etc...
That is lost wages on something that does not increase sales/productivity. Ergo, it is an expense. In production brewing, every oz. of beer made carries a price tag. That includes labor, materials, equipment, overhead, etc... Lost time spent on needless regulations born through some notion that the reason Americans are fat is because they are uninformed results in a hit to that is more impactful to small startups than large breweries. Even the HHS admitted so and came up with that number. So that is a conservative estimate at best.

Don't come here with that type of logic
I disagree that it is logical at all. It is shortsighted in the sense that a lot of these guys get their big break by being picked up for the first time by a chain that specializes in beer. Think World of Beer & Taco Mac. Now those restaurants won't even look for the up and coming beers, especially those local to the restaurant's location.

Like my ETA from my previous post- ultimately this will hurt chain restaurants more than anything when they can only supply certain beers people want.
This hurts the small brewery more than the large chains. A small startup that was lucky enough to get an account at one of these chains now has to pull their beers or pay a fine...That's not good for the small guys.

Yeah, to me..the layers of added bureaucracy hurt the little guy, not the mass producer.

Adding shite like this to the label is much greater of an expense to a small business than a large one. Additionally, it is an expense that adds little to no value, in fact, probably decreases value.

This is so dumb. The market will regulate this on it's own. If you want the label, then you won't buy the beer. If you don't care, then you'll buy it. No reason for the government to get involved at all.

what percentage of people are actually going to go to the website and look up the calories before buying a beer?
<1%?
