I got hit on a bike by a 82 years old lady in a truck back on the summer. After many months of hem hawing and claim adjustor changes, I got a offer of my bills taken care of and 4 grand for pain and suffering. I feel like I was low balled bad, and was wondering how much to negotiate before I get a lawyer. I'm not looking to get rich by no means,I just figured double that number would be reasonable.

You should have gotten a lawyer before you even started to negotiate.

Are you in pain? Were your injuries debilitating? Did you miss work and lose out on wages and/or advancement?

I could be wrong but this could be construed as a settlement, meaning it's basically done.

You haven't hired a lawyer yet?

Morris Bart would have got you $250,000.

Just negotiate on your behalf...just go back and tell them you will settle for 500 or you're taking them to court. They'll pay just to avoid court. (I work for an insurance co)

Call an attorney for advice. You're not going to get good advice here.

Get a lawyer.

You are getting screwed.

Don't go to someone on a billboard or TV.

What part of the state are you in?

People who use lawsuits to cash in and make money on an accident is what is wrong with the legal system. The lawsuit should make you whole as you were before the accident. Paying your actual expenses, including lost pay, should cover it unless you have some permanent injury. But, you are free to negotiate.
