Looks like it came out on Oct 30th ( LINK), but not the Governor has called for an investigation?

quote:

Gov. John Bel Edwards of Louisiana said this week that he was calling for an investigation into one of the state’s largest juvenile detention centers, after The New York Times documented a long record of repeated abuse, lenient oversight and, in recent years, a surge in suicide attempts. Three children have died by suicide there since 2017. “We’re going to take a hard look and see what is happening there,” Mr. Edwards said after a public appearance in Lafayette on Monday. He said the state would examine “what actions, if any, we need to take” to protect children at the Ware Youth Center in Red River Parish, in northwest Louisiana. On Tuesday, the governor’s office said it was asking the state’s inspector general to undertake the investigation. The inspector general’s office was not immediately available for comment. The Times examination, published over the weekend in partnership with the Investigative Reporting Program at the University of California, Berkeley, Graduate School of Journalism, was based on thousands of pages of state records and court documents and interviews with more than 100 people who were previously held at Ware or who have worked there. In all, 42 people held at Ware over the last 25 years described being sexually abused by staff members; 30 employees were identified through interviews and records as having sexually abused children at Ware over that time. A majority of those interviewed said that guards had routinely punished, degraded or inflicted pain. In only a few cases have Ware guards been convicted of sex crimes against children held at the facility, most in the last 13 years under the current district attorney — who, in all instances, negotiated plea deals that kept the guards out of prison and off the sex-offender registry.

Speaking of investigations being opened, what happened to his state police murder cover up?

Here's a new idea: BEHAVE & it won't be a problem.

Why don’t you build another youth detention facility shithead (JBE)? We are churning out an endless stream of juvenile offenders- mostly violent- and have few places, if anywhere, to send them. Most other states don’t want our juvenile prisoners because they are so evil. If we
Can’t incarcerate them, they get released.
Great system Guv!

How bout asking the AG to look into Ronald Green while you’re at it?

No, I'm not.

But people know the risks. Conduct yourselves accordingly & you won't have to worry about ending up there.

Seems like a pretty shitty way to excuse terrible oversight

Ah yes, the calculated and mature brain of a fifteen year old should know if they break the law they'll potentially get sexually abused by the adult staffers at a juvenile facility.

The risks? State facilities are supposed to be protective of their wards - not submitting them to rule of the jungle.

Yes, I'll make sure the juveniles - who won't even have a full formed brain until they are 29 AND who were likely born into crappy circumstances get the memo that abuse by adults being paid by the state is totally in bounds and not cause for concern or outrage.

Where did I excuse it?

People need to realize that acting a fool comes with consequences. Preventable & unpreventable. You're not just going to get away with "I endured this/that in prison"....yeah, no shite. It's not a secret. It's not right. But that doesn't change the fact that prison is going to suck, under control or not.

It's not a secret that children are committing suicide and are not properly monitored? It's not a secret that adult caretakers are sexually abusing children?

He won’t investigate DCFS bc his wife hand picked the secretary. He got rid of a solid one to put in a shill for the NPO crowd who gets the contracts.

If only they were Christians, then they could be forgiven. But, alas, they do not have enough hair product.

Thats the good thing about being a Christian. You can commit all the crimes and sins you want and you will be forgiven.
