Didnt really look like excessive force, but James is still gonna get them on false imprisonment.

It is more excessive force than false imprisonment. They had a ID, although a bad one from a witness, and had enough reasonable suspicion to detain him.

I have a bachelor's and every guy that worked for me had at least a bachelor's and two of them had Masters. None though at Harvard. Just USM and LSU

I just saw the entire video on TV and the cop just came up to Blake and wrestled him to the ground.
It looked like a reasonable take down to me and not the use of excessive force.
However, it also did not appear to me that Blake resisted at all.
This is a big to do about nothing.

too bad he wasn't packing heat. he could have defended himself. he would have been killed by any backup though.

Blake said when handcuffs were placed in him, he assumed he was a LEO. Yet it's not til the other LEOs arrived that they identified themselves as police.
There's no reason for Blake to lie about. Video shows he was attacked w/out provocation and followed the cop's demands.
Consider how some posters talk $hit about how they'd handle situations like this [haha, who are we kidding], I always smh at those same posters who never find fault w/ overly excessive cops. Hmmmm, I wonder why? Oh, that's a rhetorical question.

He won't be fired for this. He will be suspended for a couple of days and will probably be re assigned to a uniform division. This will cost him money, but not his job.

He should not have to assume they were LEO's though. When you are getting taken down by somebody you should know they are police officers. Blake could have easily fought this officer thinking he was being robbed.
What if he had played football instead of tennis? We might have been watching a fight.

I have detained people many times where it turned out they were not the suspect but I had reasonable suspicion at the time. Whenever I got through with the investigation and it was determined that they were not the right suspects I would explain why I did what I did and then I would apologize for detaining them. I was right in my actions, but it didn't hurt to explain after the fact to them and to give to tell them, I'm sorry I had to do this. To me it doesn't take much effort and it kept them from filing complaints on me. If these officers had done this we probably would have never even heard of this incident.

Exactly. Even had this been the correct suspect it was a sting operation of a non-violent crime without suspicion of weapons being involved.
The cowboy needs off the desk job and out of law enforcement. He needs a new career, perhaps he is still young enough to enlist in the infantry.
