Donald Trump warns he's 'ready' to intervene as 80 are shot in Chicago and 41 in NYC - with cops fired at in their car - and 27 are killed across US including girl, 7, as July 4 bloodshed continues

At least 27 people were killed in shootings in cities across the US during Fourth of July celebrations on Saturday

In Chicago 63 people were shot, 17 of them fatally, in various bouts of gunfire

One of the victims killed was seven-year-old Natalie Wallace

Overnight shootings in New York City left four people dead and 37 injured

Memphis, Omaha and Cleveland also reported an alarming number of shootings

Chicago, appeared to experience the worst of the violence on Saturday as 63 people were injured and 17 were killed, including two children. Meanwhile in New York City, 37 people were injured and at least four were killed.

One of the children killed in Chicago was identified by her family as seven-year-old Natalie Wallace.

The girl was playing outside her grandmother's house in the city's Austin neighborhood during a Fourth of July party when a vehicle pulled up and three men emerged and began shooting indiscriminately at about 7pm.

Natalie was shot in the head and rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the Chicago Tribune.

'Chicago's heart is broke,' Chicago police Chief Fred Waller said. 'A 7-year-old girl was taken from us. She was here visiting family. Now she's gone.'

Mayor Lori Lightfoot tweeted: 'Tonight, a 7-year-old girl in Austin joined a list of teenagers and children whose hopes and dreams were ended by the barrel of a gun.

'We cannot grow numb to this. We are making progress in slowing shootings, but we have to do better, every single one of us.'

If we just had more social workers dispatched timely these shootings wouldn’t have happened.

Chicago beat their Father's Day weekend fatalities!

But fell way short of their Father's day shootings. What a shame.

I’ll need to see what actors and entertainers tell me to think before I make any judgement on this.

What exactly is going on in these large liberal cities? I thought only conservatives were gun toting vigilantes.

No... no it’s not. Otherwise people in the neighborhood wouldn’t put up with this shite... people would protest and turn in the arseclowns who did this... however they won’t therefore they are not sick of this crap. Smh

I thought removing statues and renaming streets would fix all of this??? Problem with BLM is nobody has any solutions for anything. No ideas to curb police brutality, and no ideas to stop black people from killing each other in droves.

North Omaha. It's not anywhere as bad as Memphis or Cleveland but it's still a legit hood.

How about enforcing existing laws first? Police need to do roundups in certain neighborhoods to get illegal guns off the streets and out of the hands of felons.
