I joined around the time Jussie Smollet hoax and when the guy said his most embarrassing moment was when he spontaneously cried at a conference. Been hooked ever since.

I lurked for years before that.

I’ve followed this whole thread and I swear, if I ever decide to commit a crime I’m going to test run it here first to vette out any holes in my plan. I wonder how many police or detectives come here to read on cases and learn things to do or consider. Pretty amazing how much insight one can get here. Its like a massive detective agency where no one gets paid. I love a good mystery and this case has been awesome.

Message boards often mirror the brainstorming and investigative efforts of a Detective squad bay.

One of the most effective ways to solve a case involves experienced Detectives sitting around a table throwing out various theories and methods and sources to get information. Eventually, something hits and the case breaks open. Things snowball quickly from that point.

The bad part of message boards would be the public release of confidential information, potentially alerting the suspects of investigative efforts.

It’s a balance act of maintaining secrecy while also soliciting information.

I bet this press conference isn’t gonna be what we think or want it to be. Gonna be more of “we are still investigating and giving Carlee time to get better. “

That's my concern as well. In their statement yesterday, they released some additional information, but also said they couldn't release more at this time.

It also said:

quote:

This release contains all of the information the Hoover Police Department is able to provide at this time. We understand that there are numerous rumors and misinformation making the rounds in both social media and traditional media. While we understand the public interest in this incident, we must maintain the integrity of the case, thus we are limited in what information or statements we can release or confirm at this time. The Hoover Police Department will hold a press conference tomorrow, at which time we will be able to release additional information. The press conference will take place at the Frank and Pam Barefield Training Center, located at 850 Municipal Drive Hoover, AL at 2:30 P.M. central time.

Thats awesome! I can tell from other threads since joining how many creative minds post here yet it still has humor mixed in. IMO, what makes it work is its big enough to get people from all walks of life and places yet not too big where its censored like big social Media.

A person can still post foorball and other sports stuff on other sub boards here yet put all that aside when talking life topics on this board. Its a busy place yet filled with great content. Its the Consumer Reports of Life so to speak. Has enough stability along with randomness.

And I mean, they aren't the jerry springer show. There's no need for htem to get into the entertainment spectacle arena by being more direct than needed.

Why not? The white woman (I believe from California) who faked her abduction was arrested, convicted, and sentenced to jail.

What makes this chick different, other than race?

who said that none of those are in play for carlee? All I said was that here, 3 days after her return, they aren't going to make it into a circus and are only going to report facts. FAct that will almost assuredly let anyone with a speck of intelligence know that her story was BS.

Was that california lady arrested, convicted, and sentenced within 3 days?

All that didn’t happen within 5 days, though. It takes some time. The PD pressers from when she returned until she was charged started out like these then became more damning as their case solidified.

At the behest of being called a "racist police department" by the "race baiters", I think you are correct. People don't care as much about the law as they do the feelings of the perpetrator. Just like the Nashville PD never releasing the manifesto of the mass school shooter because it might hurt somebody's feelings.

I hope Hoover PD does better but I'm not counting on it.

Hoover and Nashville are two very different places nowadays.

This story initially shook the public when many thought perhaps a kidnaper was using a child as "bait" to lure in and abduct a good Samaritan. People could sympathize with her family being distraught. I'm sure the Hoover PD, and others, quickly devoted significant resources to ensure there wasn't a person or persons looking to terrorize the community. Then it turns out all of this looks like complete BS perpetrated by the "victim". Many people feel angry their sympathies were misplaced and taken advantage of. So while I don't think the Hoover PD will outright call this bozo a liar. I do think they will systematically show how the allegations are unfounded in order to assure the community there is no threat of a kidnaper in their midst. In doing so, they will allow the public infer this was all BS.

This situation is much different than an ever more liberal leaning city (Nashville) taking steps to ensure the misfits of the alphabet clan are not besmirched when it turns out one of their own decided to murder children

I’ll never understand why big breasted women try to cram 10 lbs of jello into something that’s only meant to hold 3 lbs.

Prediction of presser:

“Its been reported that she purchased 1 bag of Cheez-Its from Target prior to the incident called in to 911. We can factually report this as false. It was 4 bags. Thats all we can report for now we’ll have another presser when any other significant info comes to light”.

In all seriousness, they need to address 2 big things

1. Report there was no toddler present nor any reports of toddlers missing

2. Report there was no kidnapping.

These are important to maintain public trust for real kidnappings or missing toddlers.

I imagine this presser is primarily for a prosecutor's/DA's benefit.

First and foremost it will be designed to incite an emotional response that will be used against her or the family.

Secondly, they will try to get them to tip their hand when presented with a set of limited facts, with some not publicly broadcast. In other words, when they don't mention certain facts (that they do indeed know) does the perp/family take that opportunity to lie assuming they don't know.

Much of it centered around small details and the timeline. None of it motive. Some of it around macro-issues and denials, e.g. were you abducted or not?

This will just be more rope offered.

At least that's my expectations.

That’s likely the direction it will go with slightly less definitive wording.

I want to know what they've been told when they have attempted to speak with Carlee again since their first encounter with her was "brief". Who are they communicating with as far as trying to interview her again? Her parents? An attorney? What reason are they given that she is unavailable?

True, but a presser will get way more eyeballs. The statements were on website along with other info but most public never goes there to read. We know because of slueths posting it here but I bet most public needs to hear it at a presser to get more carry.
