but am I the only one who read the article that way?

Another officer said, “I believe we located her. We got a call about a female screaming with a child…Be advised, the female screamed and the line disconnected.” “Where exactly is that call coming from?”
quote:
“The call is pinging from that location.” “We’re at .... Atkins Trimm Lane checking the back yard....Do you want to see if we can start getting her (Russell’s) phone pinged?” “That’s 10-4, start pinging her phone.”
The brother’s girlfriend was supposedly on the phone with her, she heard the scream, and called 911. Her phone pinged in same area.
That’s the way I’m reading it.

That statement is them trying to get out in front of fraud charges.

Wonder what alias they use here? Seems they keep talking about social media a lot, then get off it because that won’t change. Its the world we live in now. And her comments have holes in them.

Does that mean Russell’s phone was pinging that location or the SIL’s phone? Or both?
I thought it meant SIL (brother’s girlfriend) as other comments seem to be about still attempting to ping Carlee’s phone and dealing with T-Mobile to get that done.
Right after this one person mentions sister still has line open. Not sure if still open at the time as it’s confusing to read without labeling different speakers, and someone earlier mentioned caller said call disconnected after scream.
As far as SIL involvement it could change if she lives on that street. Also, if line open and wanting to continue to listen she may have used landline or another cellphone to call police.
It also mentions not finding Carlee’s phone initially, but later the BOLO sent out said, “personal belongings including cell phone were just located around Exit 1 on 459.” I don’t know area but that seems off if car closer to mile marker 11.

The 1st 911 call from Carlee.
Police show up and find car running and no Carlee.
As they are talking to dispatch
That’s the 2nd 911 call from brothers GF. Her car pinged in the neighborhood.

Refresh my memory. Didn’t someone say that they went looking for her at the wrong Red Roof Inn? Not sure how many there are in that area or if that was correct information
Posted on 7/18/23 at 4:46 pm to HowboutthemTigers
Shouldn’t she be asking for help finding the abductor?

quote:"Carlee has given her statement to police and hopefully they are pursuing her abductor" is not something I believe I'd ever write if someone took my daughter and returned her in an "unresponsive" state two days later.

I received a text at some point from someone claiming to be Carlee and that she was at the Red Roof Inn. However, when my family went there and knocked doors and looked for her and there was no indication Carlee was there nor that she had ever been there.
I have more questions. If you honedtly thought your daughter was kidnapped and got a tip - wouldn’t you want to call the police who are trained and in case they have weapons? But instead she sends an army of family/friends there to loudly knock on doors? If it was a kidnapper you would not send family as you have no idea what they are capable of.

The dumbass family better let up with all these statements, or,they are gonna get painted in a corner. The better hire a damn good lawyer.

The sister in law (whatever is the one that reported scream)

Russell then called a family member to tell them she was stopping to check on the child, police said. “The family member lost contact with the caller, but the line remained open,” Lt. Daniel Lowe of the Hoover Police said at a news conference on Friday.

At some point I think the police were called to the Red Roof. It may have been the people at Red Roof who called, though. This shite is just confusing.

I have a hard time believing the parents were in on this. In the present, however, I'm wondering how they don't see holes in this story. I think they are just believing what she told them, whatever that was.
If they're going to release statements, I would expect them to be more demanding about the police looking for the abductor(s) and I'd be worried they might be coming after Carlee since she can probably ID them. Don't take this as me believing her story. It's just what I would expect from the parents right now.

Yeah, they're between a rock and a hard place. BUT....they aren't helping themselves or the situation by talking so much.
Also, we still have not even a hint of a description of the abductor(s) from the police who have already talked to Carlee and have her story. That speaks volumes.

I agree on both of your points. The family just can't help themselves. They keep digging a bigger hole.

So the Red Roof Inn’s sterling reputation has been sullied unnecessarily?
Posted on 7/18/23 at 5:15 pm to Gris Gris
I doubt the parents are/were in on it.
They just unconditionally love their daughter.
The most recent statement seems to be about them specifically saying they only solicited prayers, not money. IMHO, they are trying to get out in front of fraud charges her daughter might receive.

i feel like they're (well, the mother) is being so defensive because she probably knows now that she was duped just like the public was, but feels like she's got to back her daughter no matter what...they shouldn't have done the today show, or released any statements, if they didn't want the attention and criticism to get worse...
