Convicted in district court. Judge recommended year in jail and $18k fine. She is appealing to circuit court for jury trial.

Can she even appeal for a jury trial if she already provided statements admitting guilt? (I don’t know the law)

I read an article that said she pled not guilty. It also said that if given jail time in that court, she could appeal for a jury trial. Sorry, but I deleted the article.

A bit on the light side. I'd prefer a $100k fine. If she can't pay the fine, she's stays in jail and works it off making license plates.

I don't know AL law, but for a misdemeanor that could be the max. Someone else may know.
I'm not under the impression that the fine represents money spent by any other agencies also involved in the search.

Those are some cold dead eyes. The light is on but ain’t nobody home. I’m guessing this girl’s IQ is borderline mentally disabled given this appearance and her behavior in this matter.
