Unless parents very controlling including tracking her with that 360 app to keep funding her due to possible past issues and don’t support abortion I don’t see why she wouldn’t just go.
Though if she has had past issues the parents probably should have had a little doubt of story after traffic cam released and other aspects starting to come out before going on the Today Show.

I'm thinking maybe Carlee faked this whole thing to see how far her parents to go to look for her. She was really obsessed with the movie Taken. And so maybe she wanted to see if her Dad would be just like Liam Neeson in Taken.
