i'm curious about the content of the google searches that were not made public...the HPD chief mentioned that they might shed some light on her mindset, but that they were very personal in nature and would not be discussed publicly...

Was a direct result of the parent’s comments on the Today Show and reiterated with Mom’s post below.
Maybe the parents still believed the daughter at that point (some questionable comments to that effect), but the parents’ today show interview and follow up post are the kind of things done when someone wants to put pressure on the cops to take an investigation seriously and also to put pressure on them to release as much as possible outside of what would compromise investigation. Besides needing to allay public fears if the cops did not share what they could today some could have easily jumped to pushing that the cops are doing nothing to find kidnapper because Carlee is black.
The mom may not like what she heard, but she asked to hear it.
