There have been 283k deaths due to COVID worldwide.

On average, 150k people die every single day of the year worldwide.

By these numbers, COVID has accounted for approx. 0.5% of expected worldwide deaths this year.

Even if the number gets up to 1 million, that still accounts for less than 2% of the total expected deaths.

So we have have wrecked the economy and put countless people in danger of financial ruin, bankruptcy, starvation, job loss, business loss, depression, anxiety, desperation, bad credit, eviction, repossession, default, suicidal thoughts, and lack of social interaction .... over a statistically insignificant amount of people dying.

It's lunacy.

And there would have been much much more if there weren't SAH mandates put into place.

Glad to see that none of your family or loved ones/friends weren't dying because of this. I know a few that weren't as lucky.

It's what happens when public policy is driven by emotion.

Fact: 100% of people die. Why do we do anything to save anyone when we know they're going to eventually die anyway?

So what happens when the SAH orders end?

Right now it’s accounting for 5-6% of total deaths to date in the US.

Not that I disagree with what you are driving at...but your logic to get there is pretty shitty.

Precisely where is the tipping point for you?

for every 1 person that dies from it, there are 10,000 who are suffering immensely

and 90% of them would have died this year regardless of one of the many other health issues they had.

I'd say right around when you have 30 million people unemployed due to virus that has killed less than 0.02% of the population.

It's easy to quantify death.

It's hard to quantify this:

quote:

financial ruin, bankruptcy, starvation, job loss, business loss, depression, anxiety, desperation, bad credit, eviction, repossession, default, suicidal thoughts, and lack of social interaction

But it's not hard to determine that B >>>>> A

This thread has convinced me drinking and driving isn't all that bad when you think about it. If I'm statistically at risk for dying in a car accident I might as well be shitfaced and take out a few others with me. F it.

“And there would have been much much more if there weren't SAH mandates put into place. “

Sweden never closed down their economy and yet their mortality rate is on par with the U.S. and we have tanked a vibrant economy. By the way, Sweden is soon to reach herd immunity while we just kicked the can down the road.
